Olympia Scarry, the granddaughter of children’s book writer Richard Scarry, is a London socialite and an artist. No word yet as to which of these two ‘careers’ makes her the most money. Olympia Scarry also happens to be quite fashionable.
It’s hardly new. Socialites have always been around and, in recent years, it seems they’ve “been around” even more. Olympia Scarry is a socialite, yes. She also happens to be quite fashionable.
“I don’t go shopping as much as I used to,” she says. “When I was younger, I went shopping every day after school. My bedroom was opposite the seventh floor of Barneys. God knows who paid.”

Known for her long, platinum blonde locks, she is often seen out on the town in London. When at casual events, Olympia tends to keep it simple in plain prints, paired with a black leather jacket or a blazer, an effortless look that she works well. At events, she shifts towards long, flowing dresses, usually wearing them with her hair down.
Though she apparently considers herself an artist, and has friends such as Damien Hirst to guide the way, she did study fashion illustration, so I’m hoping to see a lot more of Olympia Scarry in the future.
My skin care regimen, until recently, didn’t exist. It was madness – I never followed rules or did anything consistently. I finally did some research into skin care and I have managed to come up with a quick regimen for myself that everyone can follow.
Cleanse: Use a facial cleanser to remove all dirt and make-up. Lather it onto your face and gently massage, then rinse with water. I use Cetaphil as it was highly recommended.
Tone: Hold a cotton pad under water and then wipe it over your face and neck, to remove the last traces of the cleanser. This is the method I use. For another natural method, I have heard that cooled green tea works well as a toner.
Moisturise: Apply moisturising cream to your face and neck, smoothing onto your skin gently. I use Ponds at the moment. You may need to change it up during summer and winter as your skin requires extra nourishment during winter months.
Exfoliate: Smooth on your exfoliation cream, massaging in circles, then rinse. I use St Ives Apricot Scrub and it feels amazing when you’re done!
Sun cream: Always use sun cream when you’re going out in the sun and don’t forget your ears! Even on cloudy days, you can get seriously burnt.
Steps 1-3 should be repeated up to two times daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. Step 4 should be done between one-three times a week, depending on the needs of your skin.
Finally, treat yourself to a facial once a month and drink lots of water to keep your skin fresh and hydrated.
This is a skin care regimen that is easy to follow, no matter how busy you are.
The Spring 2008 fashion shows passed by me quietly, as I was too busy to really pay as much attention as I would like. Over the last few days, I’ve had a bit of spare time to catch up on things and I went over to Style.com to see the best of the Spring 2008 fashion.

Anna Sui is probably one of my all-time favourite designers. She always mixes amazing colours and prints in ways that I never would think of.
1. The high waisted skirt is what initially drew me to this outfit. I really like the idea of adding the floral peasant top to the mix, instead of a simple tank top or tee. The studded gladiators are a great touch also, adding a little toughness to the outfit.
2. These earthy, ethnic colours instantly make me think of Africa. I like the horse print too. This would be incredible as a beach cover-up.
William Rast is fairly new on the scene. I’m always curious to see what happens when celebrities venture into fashion design. I think JT has come out on top here (of course, he has a partner in crime, Trace Ayala).
3. I love this look. It is really fierce in essence but if you take it down piece-by-piece, it’s all pretty basic. I love the fringe on the boot; it adds a nice bohemian touch. Please someone buy me these boots.
4. This has a grunge feel to it. Again, really basic and probably not something I’d wear, but they pull it off.

Zoe Kravitz is the embodiment of rock & roll fashion. It is hard to imagine that anyone with a heritage like hers (Lenny Kravitz + Lisa Bonet) could grow up without an innate sense of style. Zoe is definitely one to watch when it comes to fashion.
I first saw a picture of Zoe about a year ago, sporting what appeared to be tiger-striped boots. I loved the outfit but didn’t really think we’d be seeing much more of Zoe. Then, I was browsing The Fashion Spot forums, when I found a whole thread dedicated to her.

1. A fairly simple outfit. I don’t love the see-through top or the way her bra is peeping out, but the hat, shorts and shoes have a bit of a music festival feel about them. Makes sense.
2. A favourite. I love the high waisted skirt with its bold print and colours. Her hair is great in this photo (which isn’t always the case with Zoe) and she looks gorgeous.
3. Really this photo is just an excuse to show her with Steven Tyler. But I do love the red satin headband.
4. Wow. It’s rare to see Birkenstocks looking so stylish. I had a pair of Birkenstocks years ago which I lost on a Greyhound bus, somewhere between Toronto and Seattle, and I never bothered buying another pair. This may be the photo that pushes them back on to my shopping list.
Garance Dore writes one of my favourite blogs, combining photographs of street style with her incredible illustrations of fashionable people. Whenever I look at Garance’s blog, I am immediately filled with jealous over her drawing ability.
I don’t speak French at all. I can only semi-decipher the French language and only when it is written. This is probably why I failed when I attempted to move to Montreal in 2005 (I lasted four days). However, when I visit Garance’s blog, it is almost like I don’t need to know French. Her pictures, photographs, drawings, they say it all, without words. She is the epitome of French chic.

Today, while I was browsing Garance’s blog, I came across this photograph. When I first looked at the outfit, it didn’t really stand out to me. It wasn’t until I started looking at the individual pieces that I realised how much I liked it. Her jeans are perfectly ripped in all the right places. Her peace sign shirt doesn’t come across as tacky or cliché. The scarf, the studded bag – I love how everything is quite simple on the surface. It isn’t until you look closer that you realised how this lady has created an awesome rock & roll outfit.
Why are the French so chic? This is always the thought that runs through my mind whenever I start looking at street style blogs, such as Street Peeper – why are the French so chic and how do I steal some of their style?
This girl here is the epitome of cool! I love how she wears the leather shorts with the ballet flats. I’m sure Kate Moss wishes she could have worn this combination first.

I love how this outfit could be worn all day and then into the night, especially with the clutch. It’s not too dressed up for the day, but it is just dressy enough for the night.
I have been to Paris once, for a weekend, in 2005. We stayed just near the Moulin Rouge and we wandered the streets at night, taking in the stylish Parisians, then spent the day at the Eiffel Tower (obviously) and wandering the banks of the river.
The ultimate shop, if you’re looking for French Chic, is the Colette boutique. At 213 rue Saint-Honore, it is like candy land. You just want to stand outside it for hours. They now have a website which will also make you stare for hours.
