Earlier this year Nicole Richie announced that she would be adding a range of footwear to her hugely successful accessories line, House of Harlow 1960. Yesterday Marie Claire gave us our first sneak peek at the collection, which is set to launch in January.

The collection stays true to Nicole’s signature hippie-luxe aesthetic, with chunky platform heels and African-inspired ethnic detailing. The chic collection will include embroidered heels, cut-out booties, wedges, moccasins and sandals.

House of Harlow 1960 debuted in October 2008. Since then, Nicole has announced her plans for a ready-to-wear collection, set to debut in Spring 2010. The collection, Winter Kate, will consist of floaty maxi dresses, chiffon and lace jackets, tunic tops and more.

Are you ready for the new kid in town? On Sunday, MTV is giving you an all-access pass into the competitive world of fashion with the premiere of their new reality series, Styl’d.

The Styl’d series follows five junior stylists vying for a junior assistant position at the prestigious Margaret Maldonado Agency. The junior stylists, Gary, Tara, Janna, Brett and Cody, will be assisting Jen Rade, Eric Archibald and Julie Weiss, senior stylists at the Margaret Maldonado Agency.

Each week, the junior stylists are assigned the difficult task of assisting with the styling of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie, Pete Wentz and Ashley Tisdale for various events including music videos, movie premieres and red carpet events.

Over eight weeks, their work on these jobs will be evaluated to determine which of them will be signed to a contract at the end of the program.

Styl’d is set to reveal the drive and passion that the junior stylists have for fashion and the lengths they will go to in order to succeed. In true MTV style, the show will also journey into the personal lives of each junior stylist as they balance romance while struggling to make ends meet.

Want a sneak peak? Here’s a clip of Episode 101, where Kim Kardashian is styled for the Grammy awards and here’s a clip of Brett talking about a new opportunity.

MTV’s Styl’d premieres this Sunday, November 1st at 10pm ET/PT.

MAMA’S A ROLLING STONE EXCLUSIVE: Next week we’ll be posting an exclusive interview with some of the cast so stay tuned for MTV’s Styl’d, Pt 2.

Hot Buy: Goody Green Bag

Hot Buy: Goody Green BagOver the past few years there has been a lot of talk about the environment and climate change and if we’re honest, we all could be doing a little more to help. Enter the Goody Green Bag, an eco-friendly reusable bag that is perfect for the style-conscious-yet-environmentally-friendly shopper. We’ve put together 4 reasons why we think this bag is perfect for those seeking green products that are fun and functional.

#1. You’d be in extremely good company. The Goody Green bag was the official celebrity gift bag for the 2008 American Music Awards, Obama’s Celebrity & VIP Inauguration party, the 2009 Grammy “MusiCares” pre-party and the 2009 Oscars pre-party. Many a celebrity is probably toting this tote right now.

#2. There are eleven fabulous patterns to choose from. From our personal favorite, the Parisian (pictured) to the Bad To The Bone (skulls & hearts) to the Crazy Daisy (floral prints, obviously), there’s something for every girl.

#3. They fold-down to the size of an envelope which makes them easy to store. Keep them in your glove compartment or your purse and grab them whenever you need them.

#4. They’re affordable. At only $8.95 – $9.95 you can’t really say no!

#5. Like we said, they’re totally green. The bags are made from non-woven polypropylene – a coated, water resistant material that is light-weight, durable, fire resistant, water resistant, washable and recyclable. Phew!

To grab yourself a Goody Green Bag, head to GoodyGreenBag.com or your local Whole Foods.

Outfit Under $100: Black Out

Fashion's Night Out To ReturnFashion’s Night Out will return in 2010, according to WWD. The global shopping event was designed to give retail figures a much-needed boost and was held on the eve of New York Fashion Week in September.

“The numbers are in, and it’s clear that Fashion’s Night Out was a tremendous success,” said Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York. Bloomberg, alongside Vogue magazine, the CFDA and NYC & Co., announced that the event’s return in 2010 would be bigger and better than the first.

The first event took place on September 10th and was considered a success. “We were absolutely bowled over by the response to Fashion’s Night Out,” said Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. “It was only 15 minutes after the event began, and we were getting reports about lines around the block at stores throughout the city. It was wonderful to see people embrace this initiative, and we are thrilled that they wish it to return.”

The next Fashion’s Night Out will be held on September 9th 2010.  So what do you think? Did you attend any events for FNO 2009? Are you looking forward to the next one?

As we sat down to make our selections for October’s edition of Chic Shoe Buys, the steady sound of drizzling rain could be heard in the background. While it was hard, we struggled past the obvious option of including six pairs of leather boots and instead, we found you options for every occasion, in every climate.

Heading into November, we thought it prudent to offer choices that could move smoothly from day to night. All six of these options, heeled or not, have the versatility to transcend the work day and move into the cocktail hour. With Christmas parties just around the corner, the modern-day girl doesn’t always have time to change her look which is why our Chic Shoe Buys are right on schedule.

Chic Shoe Buys: October 2009

1. Moas Ankle Boots ($53.99) by Simply Vera Vera Wang // It’s hard to look past a pair of ankle boots like these, especially when the price tag is so low and the label has Vera Wang’s name on it. The soft grey suede sets the tone for the colder months while the criss-cross straps add a light, feminine touch. We suggest pairing these with a pair of skinny jeans and a sheer blouse for a casual, flirty look.

2. Capone Oxford ($128) by Jeffrey Campbell // Oxford shoes have been seen on a ton of celebrities lately, from Agyness Deyn to Sienna Miller, and this pair of two-toned saddle shoes by Jeffrey Campbell are set to bring you to the forefront of fashion. The contrast of dark blue with nude tones give the shoe a contemporary look while the stud detail along the top add a tough edge.

3. Women’s Cher Shoe ($152) by Dolce Vita // A pair of strappy sandals are an absolute necessity in every girls closet but the key is to find a pair that can be worn all year round. Dolce Vita’s suede, birdcage platforms are perfect for partying the night away! We recommend pairing them with a floral, bohemian dress and opaque tights for an opulent, 70s luxe look.

4. Buckled Heel Boot ($215) by Jeffrey Campbell // Somewhat reminiscent of the studded Chloe ankle boots seen on celebrities like Kate Bosworth and Sienna Miller, this pair of heeled booties from Jeffrey Campbell would be perfect with a pair of skinny jeans or leather cigarette pants. The gold stud detailing adds a little sparkle to the look while the buckle straps give you a look that screams biker chic. For those that prefer a dressier look, wear them with a long-sleeve dress, another trend that is making its way onto the scene.

5. Agna Lace Up Booties ($264) by Charlotte Ronson // This pair of booties were the stand-out item for us this month, especially with the sound of rain at the window. Our eyes couldn’t help but wander straight to the sweater fabric insert. Like an extra pair of socks, the knit banding will keep your feet warm and cozy in the winter, while the zipper detail and buckled straps keep you on the fashionable side of the fence. What more could a girl ask for? Perhaps a stacked heel? Trust Charlotte Ronson to give us a pair of booties that have it all.

6. Leeloo Boots ($47.99) from ModCloth // While we love the heeled options this month, a pair of flat boots can go a long way in winter. Whether you wear this super-stylish pair with jeans or a mini dress and tights, you’re sure to turn heads. For the finishing touch, match the silver buckle straps to a similarly strapped satchel bag.

Tomorrow the brand new Kate Moss for Topshop Christmas 2009 collection launches in stores and online. For this collection, which is her twelfth for Topshop, Kate focused on sleepwear, a new direction for her line. To get you through the day, we have another quick sneak peek of the collection and some of the amazing pieces on offer.

“I love beautiful nightwear, it makes you feel great,” said Kate, when asked what inspired her to create a nightwear collection. “Over the years, I’ve collected millions of vintage slips, nighties, camis and bed jackets. Who doesn’t want fab nightwear for Christmas!?”

The 79-piece collection is as glamorous as you would expect and features luxurious lingerie and Chinese-inspired silk pajama sets, as well as embellished party dresses and vintage-inspired beaded belts. Of course, several key fall/winter trends make an appearance, such as sequins, velvet and faux fur.

As for Kate’s favorite pieces from the collection, she says: “I love the short 30s-style dressing gown and the matching night dress… I was inspired by one of my favorite vintage pieces and it’s perfect for the getting-ready part of the evening.”

As always, Kate’s collection is expected to be a sell-out, so set your alarm clock – the collection goes on sale on Topshop.com at 6am.
