- For Christmas, blogger-of-the-moment Tavi penned an essay on the plight of Darfur. No doubt this will spur on fans of the “Tavi is the new JT Leroy” theory.
- Harriet Mays Powell has a quick chat with Brian Wolk and Claude Morais of Ruffian.
- The LA Times have put together a slideshow of movie costumes that started fashion trends, including Brad Pitt’s vintage shirt and burgundy leather jacket combo from Fight Club. I don’t remember that catching on, to tell the truth.
- Jezebel has a list of fads that won’t survive the next ten years. Bacon made the list. Another ‘fad’ we missed.
- Rachel Zoe and Demi Moore hang out in front of the camera, discussing mascara. Then someone posts it on YouTube.
- Speaking of Tavi, The New York Times wrote an article about how bloggers are crashing the front row. Gawker rebutted with an article that declares the fashion blogger/front row controversy over. Unlikely.
- Stella McCartney and Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders posted a video as well – complete with giggles.
- Take a walk through 31 Rue Cambon, Coco Chanel’s Fabulous Paris Flat that she didn’t actually live in. That’s right; she slept across the street at the Ritz.
- The New York Times has determined that Scarlet Johansson is out, Carine Roitfeld is in.

Yesterday French fashion house Givenchy revealed their new spring ad campaign, shot by famed photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The spring ad campaign is the second season that Mert and Marcus have photographed for Givenchy.
The print-heavy campaign features raven-haired, Russian model Natalia Vodianova alongside Italian model Mariacarla Boscono. Both girls are dressed in spring’s graphic, black-and-white prints and are seen cavorting among a posse of topless male models. Boscono has appeared in several Givenchy campaigns over the years and serves as a muse to Riccardo Tisci, Givenchy’s creative director.

Photographer and blogger Todd Selby is set to release his first book, The Selby Is In Your Place, in May 2010. The Selby Is In Your Place was born from Selby’s website, TheSelby.com, which features portraits of ‘interesting people’ – from authors to musicians to designers – in their home environments.
Selby has spent years traveling the world, with his photographs appearing in British Vogue, Dazed & Confused and Nylon Magazine, to name a few. In order to distribute his work to a wider audience, he created TheSelby.com. The website was born out of a natural curiosity on Selby’s part; he wanted to discover how personal style was reflected in private spaces.
Since launching The Selby, readers have been privy to the homes of a varied, eclectic group of subjects, such as Barneys creative director Simon Doonan, model Erin Wasson and editor-in-chief of Purple Fashion, Olivier Zahm. The Selby has featured homes as far and wide as New York, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney and London.
The Selby Is In Your Place will feature over thirty never-before-seen profiles that have been selected exclusively for the book. Each profile will be accompanied by Selby’s watercolor portraits and illustrated questionnaires, which have Selby has asked each subject to fill out since the beginning of the site.
You can pre-order your copy of The Selby Is In Your Place from Amazon now for just $23.10 or, for more retailers, check out TheSelby.com.
