After months of statement necklaces and cocktail rings, it is time to take a trip back in time and discover the boho baubles of the 1970s. Yes, some of our favorite tastemakers—including Jessica Alba and Reese Witherspoon—have been spotted out and about lately, each wearing a necklace with a bohemian twist. So, how can you make this trend work for you? Click through to today’s Accessory Report for all the need-to-know details on who is trying this trend, where you can find a boho bauble of your own, and how you should wear it!
Who is trying this trend?
Ashley Tisdale was one of the first to try this trend, wearing a beaded tassel necklace while catching a flight out of LAX Airport in early January. But, the others weren’t far behind! A few days later, Jessica Alba was spotted out and about in Los Angeles wearing an ethnic pendant necklace. Later in the month, Reese Witherspoon was spotted in Century City wearing a pink tassel necklace, just days before Malin Akerman attended an event in Los Angeles wearing an ethnic-style necklace.
How are they styling it?
One of the things we like most about this accessory trend is that you can try a boho bauble with the most casual of outfits, or you can use yours to dress up a more elaborate outfit. For instance, Jessica chose to wear hers with a series of casual basics—specifically, a slouchy cardigan, a tank top, and a circle scarf. Similarly, Reese wore hers with a slouchy sweater, jeans, and chunky boots. While Jessica and Reese opted for very different styles of necklaces, they do have something in common: they used their boho baubles to add a fun and easy twist to an otherwise casual outfit, boosting it from simple to stylish. On the other hand, Ashley and Malin paired their boho baubles with dressier pieces—to be specific, Ashley teamed hers with a black tee and red leather skinny pants, while Malin wore hers with a cobalt blue blazer. Although both Ashley and Malin had already picked out colorful statement pieces, the addition of their necklaces didn’t steal focus. Rather, they added an unfussy yet fashion-forward element to the mix, taking each outfit to the next level in an effortlessly chic way. (And who can say no to that?)
How can I make this look my own?
