It is only human nature that drives our curiosity to look inside the homes and lives of others; this September, the CFDA is setting out to satisfy that curiosity with the release of a new coffee-table tome, American Fashion Designers At Home. The book features images from the homes of 115 of its members, including Donna Karan, Betsey Johnson and J Crew’s Jenna Lyons.
“This is the ultimate voyeuristic journey,” Rimi Suqi, the book’s author, told WWD. And she’s right; the book is ideal for inquisitive minds. A wide range of designers and homes is featured; although the book includes images of well-known designer retreats, such as Diane Von Furstenberg’s Cloudwalk estate in Connecticut and Donna Karan’s Parrot Cay retreat in Turks & Caicos (above right), lesser-known designers are also given space. Twinkle By Wenlan designer Wenlan Chia’s loft is featured, as is Milly designer Michelle Smith’s brightly-colored living room (below).
American Fashion Designers At Home will be published by Assouline this September, with the $65 price tag benefiting the CFDA Foundation. Currently, American Fashion Designers At Home is available for pre-order on Amazon.com at the price of $40.95.
