We may still be in the earliest days of fall but, naturally, the fashion world is thinking spring. In the case of Banana Republic, whose spring line was shown in New York City last Thursday, this means flowing floral maxidresses, cargo vests, painterly-print cocktail dresses, floppy straw hats, statement necklaces, bright turbans, lightweight trench coats, jersey harem pants, platform wedges, and more. The overall theme? The beige trench coats, khaki safari jackets, and tribal prints gave the collection a global-traveler vibe, while the airy maxidresses and breezy blouses gave the collection a summer picnic aesthetic. Happily, there’s probably something in this collection that everyone can reach for come spring/summer.
