Beauty Buys: Spring 2012

If you are anything like us, you look at each new season as a way to give your makeup collection a fresh start—whether that means opting for an entirely different look, switching up your color palette, or trying something that you have never tried before. Of course, with new beauty collections arriving by the day, it can be hard knowing where to start, which is where today’s Beauty Buys story comes in. We have picked out eight must-try products that will help you welcome spring with a bang! On that note, click through to check out the products we are coveting most this season.

When each new season arrives, one of the things we look forward to the most is the latest Chanel nail polish—and this season, the French fashion house did not disappoint! We are obsessed with Chanel’s Le Vernis Nail Color in April, May & June ($26 each). Each color is a perfectly pretty shade in its own right—April is a cherry red, May is a rosy pink, and June is a soft peach—but when teamed together, these polishes make for some serious eye candy. Speaking of seriously covetable trios, we also have a soft spot for Bobbi Brown’s new Brightening Lip Gloss ($23) shades: Lilac Pearl, Pink Opal, and Pink Lilac. Each one differs slightly from the others, but the subtle pink tones are perfect for those days when you need a quick pick-me-up. Another item that will give you an instant boost is the new Breeze Face Powder Blush ($35) by Clarins. Despite the fact that it is almost too pretty to use, if you do use it, you will find a blush that delivers a soft matte finish, evening out your complexion in an instant. Now, if it is one of those days where you really need a boost, a spritz of fragrance is always handy. On that note, make sure you check out the new Valentina Eau de Parfum Spray ($80-$108) by Valentino. With notes of jasmine, orange blossom, strawberry, and amber, it is the perfect way to step into spring—fruity and fun, with a subtly sexy twist.

Of course, spring is a time for color, which is why we simply had to introduce you to Lancôme’s Les Yeux Doux Color Design Shadow & Liner Palette in Vert Tendresse ($49). The palette features shades of sea green and aqua, allowing you to create a nice mélange of color with shades that work well together—and if greens and blues do not suit, there is another new palette of pinks and corals. If greens and blues are your types of color, however, you may also want to check out the Crushed Metallic Pigment in Butterfly Party ($34) by MAC Cosmetics. It features four stackable pigment pots in peacocky shades of blue, green, and purple. The color is highly-pigmented, so wear these when you are feeling bold. On days when you are not feeling quite so bold but you want to infuse your look with a little color, we suggest you check out Burberry’s Lip Cover Soft Satin Lipstick ($30). This season, there are four new shades to choose from: Tulip Pink, Devon Sunset, Golden Peach (pictured), and Primrose Hill. Each one comes in a flattering shade of pink, and while these shades do not stand out in an over-the-top way, they will catch the eye. Finally, for those days when you just want to kick back without any makeup at all, make sure you check out Makeup Removing Water ($28) by NARS. This is an interesting product in that it was created using a soap-free, oil-free, and alcohol-free formula. For something that sounds so basic, it is amazing how refreshed it will make your skin look. Plus, it feels good to try something so pure when you are at the end of a long day! Happy shopping!
