Beauty Buys: Summer Vacation

Everyone loves and needs a great vacation once in a while, and now that summer is on the horizon, it seems like the perfect time to start making plans. With that said, we have a very special Beauty Buys story in store for you today. Yes, we have rounded up a slew of vacation-ready goodies from the beauty department—including a ready-to-go eye collection with all the essentials and a margarita-scented gel that serves three different purposes. Ready? Click through to discover our favorite summer vacation beauty buys.

When you are packing for a vacation, there is one thing to keep in mind: balancing the items you want with the items you need. To be a little more specific, when you have a limited amount of space in your suitcase, you should only take the bare essentials. This is why we love Philosophy’s Senorita Margarita Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath ($6-$16). Not only does it come in two handy sizes, but it can be used for three different purposes: washing your hair, cleaning your body, and soaking up some suds. Plus, it features a hint of lime, so no matter where you take your vacation, you will feel like you are living in the land of the exotic. Another practical item that has plenty of panache is Lush’s Orange Blossom Solid Perfume ($10). A solid perfume is great because not only will it meet all security requirements at the airport, it is not going to spill in your luggage and stain your vacation wardrobe. The gorgeous honey and orange blossom-tinted scent is irresistible, too. Speaking of irresistible, we think Missoni’s Zigzag Headband ($82) is a great vacation pick because it doubles as an accessory and a necessity. In the morning, you can use it to hold your hair back as you apply your makeup and suncream. For the rest of the day, it will add a pop of color to your outfit. Who can say no to these attributes?

Of course, your beauty kit wouldn’t be complete without a selection of makeup, but once again you need to weed out the extras and come up with the essentials. With that said, we think you can get away with a great eye, a great lip, and a great manicure, so these are the three areas we have focused on. For the eyes, we suggest you check out Bobbi Brown’s Eye Luxe Collection ($100). Yes, it does clock in above the budget-friendly mark, but it has all the essentials you need packed into a handy carrying case: a palette of sparkling shadows, a lengthening mascara, and four brushes. So as you can see, you will be able to create a dozen different looks while you take your vacation—one for every event. For your lips, we recommend Cover Girl’s Blast Flipstick Lipcolor ($9). These double-ended sticks feature a shimmering lip color at one end and a creamy lip color at the other, so you can apply a matte lip during the day and then amp up the volume for a night at the hotel bar. Plus, they’re small enough to fit in your carry-on. As for your nails, Chanel’s Le Vernis Nail Color in Holiday ($26), a tangy orange, is our number one pick this season. It will add a pop of zesty color to your outfit and is sure to be a head-turner. Last, but certainly not least, you are going to need a cute bag to carry your beauty loot, so make sure you check out BE & D’s Heather Cosmetic Case ($98). On the outside it is pretty and on the inside it is roomy, lined, and ready to hold everything you need. Happy shopping!
