Kristin Reiter and Valerie Killeen, the Californian girls behind the wildly successful fashion blog Bleach Black, have just released the first color, Dickweed, from their new nail polish collection. Dickweed, a hybrid of “malachite stones and Japanese beetle green” with a hint of metallic shine, is the first of many shades that the girls will release.
Reiter and Killeen launched Bleach Black a little over a year ago after a beachside realization: “We realized that we talked everyday about the hot shit we liked, why not just blog about it?” The girl’s blog, which they have dubbed a conversational fashion diary, consists of two columns; Kristin’s side, Bleach, and Valerie’s side, Black.
Their blog has quickly become a favorite for fashion bloggers. Although both girls are already veterans in the fashion industry, with Kristin working as Design Director at RVCA and Valerie working as Senior Apparel Designer at Element, the popularity of their blog has allowed them to venture into new realms. As well as their new nail polish collection, the girls also collaborated with Urban Outfitters earlier this year on a collection of jewelry earlier this year.
Dickweed ($12.95) is available for pre-order at NeedSupply.com. Given that Rumi of FashionToast has already been seen sporting the shade, the chances are high that it will be a sellout.
