DailyCandy Follows 9 Designers For Fashion Week

by Bryna on September 2, 2010

DailyCandy Follows 9 Designers For Fashion Week

With Fashion Week fast approaching, it can be hard to keep up with all the comings-and-goings of designers, but this year, DailyCandy is taking matters into its own hands with the launch of its first-ever Fashion Week series. Via The Dossier, DailyCandy’s Fashion Week blog, the series will profile nine New York-based independent designers as they create their Spring 2011 collections. Readers will go behind-the-scenes with DailyCandy and learn about the entire creation process, from mood boards to manufacturing, look book shoots, model castings, and the final product: the runway show. Equally, the series will chronicle the ups-and-downs of building a collection for Fashion Week, and give readers plenty of helpful insight into the world of design. Plus, to complement the series, DailyCandy will sell five of the designers’ current fall collections on sale site Swirl by DailyCandy beginning September 8. The big question: who are the designers? Chris Benz, Albertus Swanepoel, Eviana Hartman, Samantha Pleet, Tom Scott, LaQuan Smith, Ann Yee, Whitney Pozgay, and Dana Lorenz.

If you’re an aspiring designer, this series is a must-read. Check it out at The Dossier.

Lanvin To Design Exclusive Collection For H&M

by Bryna on September 2, 2010

Lanvin To Design Exclusive Collection For H&M

It is confirmed! H&M has announced that its next designer collaboration will be with Lanvin, the French high fashion house known for its sophisticated, feminine designs. The collection, which will be designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz (pictured) and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide. Bonus: the collection will include womenswear and menswear.

“H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public,” says Elbaz.

“We are thrilled about Lanvin’s collection for H&M, it is such an exciting moment. Lanvin will bring to H&M a luxurious French tradition that is also modern and playful. It is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men. The launch in November is going to be full of wonderful surprises,” says Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M.

And now we wait. The Lanvin For H&M collection will be revealed to the world via a special film which will launch on November 2 at HM.com. In the meantime, whet your appetite with this preview film: The Dream.

by Bryna on September 1, 2010

Essie Fall 2010 Collection

The fall runways spotlighted a slew of new trends, including velvet, chunky knits, and clean lines, just to name a few. In turn, these trends moved Essie founder Essie Weingarten to create her Fall 2010 nail color collection a six-piece line-up of rich autumnal colors inspired by “elegant, sanguine hues and camouflage tones.” To be specific: Sew Psyched, a soft sage green hue; Merino Cool, a mulberry hue; Velvet Voyeur, a chocolate-amethyst hue; Little Brown Dress, a black-coffee hue; Limited Addiction, a garnet-red hue; and, In Stitches, a blush pink hue.

The Essie Fall 2010 Collection is in stores and nail salons now, as well as online at Essie.com. Each color retails for $8.
