Popular Australian label Camilla & Marc is going global with its Pre Collection 2010/11 lineup, a series of multiethnic clothes inspirited by a multitude of world cultures. While these newfound influences can be seen and felt in the clothes – the collection has been given a strong injection of color that nicely balances the softer fabrics, while the silhouettes are tempered with draped leather that gives the traditionally structured separates a gentle feel – the real draw card is the appearance of jewelry.
Camilla & Marc’s first ever jewelry collection was previewed in the Pre Collection 2010/11 runway show at May’s RAFW. With a smattering of chunky rings, long layered necklaces, faux nose rings and elaborate multi-chain necklaces, each piece was reminiscent of women’s jewelry in other cultures; the faux nose rings are seemingly inspired by Indian culture, while layered necklaces are inspired by African culture. Although global influences are nothing new to the fashion world, the Camilla & Marc jewelry collection has taken the aesthetic one step further, to a place we can definitely agree with!
