Zooey Deschanel graces the cover of Allure magazine’s February 2012 issue. Inside, she discusses her signature hairstyle, her body, and her personality.
On her signature hairstyle: “I’m bangs and eyes,” she says. “It’s who I am. There have been periods when I’ve grown my bangs out, but I always cut them back, so it’s like, why go through the trouble?”
On her body: “Some people around me, they’re like 89 pounds,” she says. “I’m not going to say I’m a big girl. I’m a very small person, but I’m a healthy weight. That might be a little weird for Hollywood.”
On her personality: “Because I have brown hair and a low voice, I would get cast as dry, sarcastic, ironic people, which I can do, but it’s not my sense of humor. I’m a very positive person. I get excited easily, and I like to jump around.”

Continuing its mission to give the beauty fan a complete collection of products, NARS Cosmetics is in February launching the Pure Radiance Tinted Moisturizer line. According to reports, the line will include nine different shades—running the gamut from light to dark—and each product will be infused with SPF 30/PA+++, which is the highest UVA protection available. The ingredient that really sets this line apart, however, is kopara, a natural ingredient that is said to encourage natural skin cell renewal and hydrate the skin. The Pure Radiance Tinted Moisturizer line will launch exclusively at Nordstrom on February 1. It will then launch at NARSCosmetics.com on February 15, followed by a global launch in March. Each shade will retail for $42.

Late last year, it was reported that China Glaze was creating a collection based on the upcoming Hunger Games movie. Today, we have a first look at the collection, which has been named the “Colors from the Capital” collection. Specifically, the collection takes inspiration from the extravagant fashion, food, and entertainment enjoyed by the citizens of Capitol. The collection includes (from left to right, top to bottom): Luxe and Lush, Fast Track, Hook and Line, Foie Gras, Stone Cold, Smoke & Ashes, Dress Me Up, Riveting, Electrify, Mahogany Magic, Harvest Moon, and Agro. As for the color palette, in keeping with the theme, the colors have an almost industrial vibe, with a few touches of earthy color. The Colors from the Capitol collection will launch on March 1. Prices to be confirmed.

This spring, there is only one theme to keep in mind when it comes to nail polish: color. The latest nail brand to stick to this theme is Butter London, which has just unveiled a five-color lineup that mixes soft pastels with popping neon hues. The line includes: Bossy Boots, a pale pistachio green; Disco Biscuit, a tropical hot pink; Knacked, a glittering oyster; Slapper, a bold teal; and Trout Pout, a retro cantaloupe pink. Our verdict? These colors may be bold, but it is safe to say that there is something for every occasion, thanks to the low-key Bossy Boots and girly Trout Pout. The full Butter London spring 2012 collection is available now at ButterLondon.com. Each color retails for $14.

Many of us can extol the virtues of the Burt’s Bees lipbalm range, but did you know that Burt’s Bees now has a new line of natural beauty products called Güd By Burt’s Bees? The Güd line features a slew of different products—including body butter, body lotion, body mist, body wash, conditioner, hand cream, hand wash, and shampoo. Even better, each product comes in a range of scents, such as Vanilla Flame, a mix of vanilla and rice milk, Orange Petalooza, a mix of blood orange and hyacinth, and Floral Cherrynova, a mix of cherry blossom and almond milk—and these are just a few of the succulent scents. Happily, we have saved the best part for last. The Güd line is available now at stores like Target and GudHappens.com, and it is extremely budget-friendly. In fact, prices start at just $5.

It is no secret that the first rule of beauty is to make sure you remove all your makeup before you go to bed at night, but which product should you use to help? If you don’t already have a go-to product, or even if you do, we suggest you take a look at the new Makeup Removing Water by NARS Cosmetics. It is soap, oil and alcohol-free, which means it is unlikely to irritate even the most sensitive skin. Even better, it is infused with cucumber and chamomile, both of which will refresh and soothe your skin. The result? Clean, makeup-free skin that glows. The new Makeup Removing Water is available now at NARS counters, as well as online at NARSCosmetics.com. It retails for $28.

Question: What is better than scoring a new makeup bag? Answer: Scoring a makeup bag designed by CFDA Award-winning designer Sophie Theallet that comes complete with a slew of must-try products.
