Seasonal Style: Vanessa Hudgens

If you’re revamping your closet for fall, preparing yourself for a frosty winter, or even looking ahead to the sultry days of summer, there is plenty of inspiration to be had in our latest edition of Seasonal Style. Today’s subject? Vanessa Hudgens—actress, singer, and rising style star. Now, you might know that Vanessa currently calls Los Angeles home, which means that she experiences warmer weather than the rest of the country, all year round; as such, you’ll find her fall/winter ensembles are a little more lightweight than you might expect. Of course, this doesn’t detract from her style—on the contrary, dear readers! In fact, whether she’s sporting an on-trend military jacket in fall, or modeling a chunky sweater in winter, there is one thing that always remains true: Vanessa knows how to keep it young, fresh and interesting, through every season. With that, we present our latest edition of Seasonal Style. Read on!

FALL
Last week, Vanessa was spotted at a Weezer concert in Hollywood, kicking off the beginning of fall in an edgy military-inspired ensemble. We love this look for many reasons, one of which is its flexibility—on those oddly lukewarm fall days, you can peel back the layers and still look stylish; when the temperature dives again, you’ve got a lightweight and lovely jacket to boost your look. To take on Vanessa’s fall style, start with her exact jacket—Blu Moon’s Vintage Army Jacket ($110)—or try William Rast’s Military Jacket ($175). Underneath your jacket, you’ll need a loose-fit tank top and a flirty lace bra—we suggest you check out Alternative Apparel’s Striped Linen Lowback Tank ($48) and Honeydew Intimates’s Camellia Bralette ($21). Complete your look with 7 For All Mankind’s Gummy Denim Gwenevere Jeans ($169) and a pair of combat boots; we like Boutique 9′s Rivit Boots ($159.90) and Jeffrey Campbell’s Bal-nu Ankle Boots ($209.95).

WINTER
As we mentioned above, winter in Los Angeles is, well, mild compared to the east coast, which means Vanessa’s winter ensembles are only slightly cozier than her fall looks. Case in point: in January, Vanessa was spotted out and about in Los Angeles wearing a chunky sweater, jeans, and slouchy leather boots. The main variance between fall and winter? Vanessa swapped out her lightweight jacket for a thick knit, and opted for a darker palette. To get your hands on a similarly snug ensemble, start with a chunky knit such as Manoush’s Chunky-Knit Wool Sweater ($127), Industry’s Chunky Knit Sweater ($128) or Victoria’s Secret’s Cotton Cable Boyfriend Sweater ($48). Next, grab a pair of J Brand’s Lightweight 14″ Cigarette Leg Jeans. To finish, loosely tuck your jeans into a pair of slouchy boots; we like Ted Baker’s Ulfa Slouch Flat Ankle Boots ($134.80) and D-Co Copenhagen’s Leather Short Leather Casual Boots ($131.43).

SPRING
By March, the weather in Los Angeles was warm again, spring had officially sprung, and Vanessa was spotted out and about in Studio City in a lightly-layered ensemble—namely, a printed cardigan, cotton dress, fringe-embellished satchel, and cowboy boots. Not only does Vanessa’s outfit stay true to her modern-boho aesthetic, but it is easy and effortless, which is the perfect way to step into a new season. To emulate Vanessa’s stylish spring look, start with a simple cotton dress, such as Sparkle & Fade’s Knit Scoop Back Tee Dress ($48) or Victoria’s Secret’s Scoopneck Tee Print Dress ($24.50), and throw on a printed cardigan; we like Alice By Temperley’s Chara Cotton Oversized Cardigan ($395) and Lauren Moshi’s Chainbelt Wrap Cardigan ($176). Finish off your outfit with a slew of hippie-esque accessories such as Bebe’s Leather Fringe Crossbody Satchel ($298) and Guess’s Sundary Cowboy Heel Studded Buckle Detail Ankle Boots ($210.63).

SUMMER
Summer might officially begin in June, but it never really begins until Independence Day weekend. This year, Vanessa celebrated July 4th by heading to a beachside party in Malibu. Her outfit for the day? Simple but sweet: loose blue tank top, white shorts, leather sandals, and a dash of red lipstick. All in all, an unfussy way to usher in sticky summer days. To give Vanessa’s summery style a spin, start with a flirty tank such as Vero Moda’s Drape Side Fine Knit Tank ($25.28), Collective Concepts’s Poly Chiffon Flutter Tank ($50), or Ella Moss’s Madeline Hi-Low Tank ($62). Layer your top over a pair of True Religion’s Allie Shorts ($150), and then throw on Old Navy’s Faux Leather T-Strap Sandals ($9.99) or Charles Albert’s 1650 T-Strap Sandals ($19.95). For the finishing touch, paint your lips with Paul & Joe’s Lipstick ($20) in True Red. Voila!

Seasonal Style: Sienna Miller

Whether you have a closet stocked full with investment pieces and wardrobe essentials, or you have a slew of on-trend pieces, or even a solid mix of both, a new season is always the perfect time to revamp your style. After all, fashion is synonymous with change—as the season’s pass from spring to fall, and back to spring again, new collections come and go, trends transform from of-the-moment to out-of-date, and you, dear reader, almost certainly reach new highs in life. In view of that, we are introducing a new feature—Seasonal Style—that spotlights how some of our favorite celebrity muses are taking on the changing seasons. Of course, our first stylish subject—British actress Sienna Miller—is no stranger to seasonal whims thanks to her jet-setting lifestyle. Whether she’s rocking a mini red romper for spring in New York City or sporting a faux fur chubby for winter in London, one thing is certain: Sienna knows how to make the most of the ever-changing weather. With that, we present our inaugural edition of Seasonal Style! Read on!

FALL
Now that fall is almost upon us, we’re heads-over-heels for inspirational autumnal looks. For that reason, our eyes were instantly drawn to this utilitarian ensemble, which Sienna wore while out and about in New York City in November 2009. It is cozy, comfortable and, most importantly, chic—the perfect combination for chilly fall weather! Now, onto the details. The key to Sienna’s fall style is lightweight layers and autumnal colors. We love the trio of shades Sienna has put together—her taupe jacket and heather-gray skinny jeans are complemented perfectly by the warm crimson hue of her Prada bag—but we are particularly smitten with Sienna’s layering technique. Underneath her military jacket, you’ll see a floaty cotton top, which is perfect for when the sun comes out. To take on Sienna’s fall style, we recommend pairing MICHAEL Michael Kors’ Military Jacket ($130) with 7 For All Mankind’s Roxanne Skinny Slimmer Jeans ($124.60), and then adding a pair of Jeffrey Campbell’s Biz Boots ($117). Finish off your look with Isabel Lu’s Silk Cotton Embroidered Blouse ($113).

WINTER
If one thing is apparent, it is that Sienna stays true to herself as she moves from season to season. In fact, we love how her winter look is just a slightly cozier version of her fall ensemble—her military-style coat is a little weightier, her collar is pulled up high around her neck, and her blonde locks are tucked into a knit beanie. (It doesn’t hurt that her hands are warmed with cups of hot coffee, either.) Similarly, her favored color palette has changed: instead of neutral hues and warm autumnal shades, Sienna has opted for an almost all-black palette, with the odd hint of gray. If you want to get your hands on a similarly winter-ready look, start with Priorities’ Evelyn Removable Cuff Jacket ($123) or O’Neill’s Lennon Coat ($83.50). Throw on Cheap Monday’s Second Skin Skinny Jeans ($65) and Lowie’s Chunky Merino Pom Beanie ($75.83), and then finish off with House of Harlow 1960′s Talia Suede Boots ($295).

SPRING
Just as Sienna’s fall and winter ensembles are low-key and composed of muted colors, her spring and summer ensembles are bright, lively and spirited. For example, we love the mini red romper she wore while out and about in New York City in May 2010. Not only is it an ideal morning-after outfit—the 2010 Met Ball was held the night before—but it is also the perfect outfit to ring-in the spring/summer season, thanks to its skin-baring silhouette and vivid tone. Of course, a new season calls for a new beauty look too: notice how Sienna’s hair is free and flowing? To emulate Sienna’s smart spring look, start with a bright romper—we like Karina Grimaldi’s Lizzy Romper ($55.50) and Roxy’s Day Trip Romper ($34.65)—and then add a pair of Cooperative’s Classic Jazz Oxford Shoes ($38). For a playful touch, add Prada’s Large Cat’s Eye Sunglasses ($225).

SUMMER
As it was with fall/winter, you’ll notice that Sienna’s summer style is just a slight variation on her spring aesthetic. Just look at the carefree outfit Sienna wore last summer: instead of a red romper, she wore a breezy white skirt; instead of black jazz shoes, she opted for a light cream iteration; and, in place of dark sunglasses, there are clear shades. As for her beauty regime, there’s a decidedly natural look about Sienna, which is perfect for sticky summer days. The overall verdict: in summer, Sienna prefers a lighter, untroubled look. To give Sienna’s summery style a try, start with Sauce’s Warrior Top ($62) and tuck it into a easy white skirt—we like Free People’s Mini Peasant Skirt ($37.07) and Lungta De Fancy’s Layered Frill Mini Skirt ($42.13). Give your ensemble a chic twist with J Crew’s Camden Tipped Brogues ($250) and Adele Marie’s Statement Bead Necklace ($40.44).
