Summer 2010

Summer is here! Summer is about salty sea water in your hair, tank tops and shorts, sunkissed skin, music festivals, low-key makeup, flirting, long and lazy days, flip-flops, icy cocktails, beachside barbecues or poolside parties, cute boys, bright colors like coral pink and ocean turquoise, bare feet, road trips, bare skin, warm evenings, sleepy nights, effortless beauty, sunshine, music on the radio and taking it easy.

Somewhere

Sofia Coppola’s new film, Somewhere, premieres in December; in the meantime, feast your senses on the just-released trailer. Somewhere tells the story of Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff), a bad-boy Hollywood actor weighed down by the excessive life he has created. Pre-Fall Fringe

Summer is the perfect time to revamp your hairstyle, especially with a fresh new cut for fall. Take a leaf out of Sienna Miller’s book: the sassy actress has breathed fresh life into her boho vibe pre-fall with heavy bangs that are reminiscent of the actresses early days (think Sienna and Jude on the set of 2004′s Alfie). Add some extra glow with warm honey-blonde highlights.

Say bonjour to couture – yesterday, Haute Couture Fashion Week kicked off in Paris. This season’s event is significant in that it marks a beginning and end. Today, Givenchy will show its couture collection on the catwalk for the last time; in the future, the label will conduct individual appointments. Also, jewelry has officially been introduced to the couture schedule – both Van Cleef & Arpels and Chanel Joaillerie will present collections.

Mad Men Season 4

Betty Draper, Joan Harris and Peggy Olson – arguably the three most stylish women on television – will return to our screens on July 25 with the premiere of Mad Men’s fourth season. While fans can expect plenty of classic 1960s silhouettes, head costume designer Janie Bryant is updating the shows wardrobe to reflect the mod lifestyle and youth culture of the late 1960s, with a focus on “more memorable costumes, more glitz!”
