Style Essentials: Spring 2011

A billowy peasant blouse, a pleated maxi skirt, a fresh slick of bold nail color—these are just some of the things I am coveting this spring. My strategy for tackling my spring wishlist? While many of my current fashion obsessions can be attributed to the spring runways—for instance, ever since I saw the spring Marc Jacobs collection, I have been looking for the perfect YSL-inspired peasant blouse—I also plan to refresh the essentials in my wardrobe.

Style Essentials: Fall 2010

It is that time of year again—time to revamp your fall/winter wardrobe in preparation for a brand new season. If you are anything like me, you have probably been putting together a wishlist of pretty possibilities and chic choices since the beginning of summer. As we move closer and closer to the colder months, however, it becomes imperative to narrow down your selection and start shopping! Naturally, I am thrilled to share my own key pieces, must-have beauty items and high-end hopefuls in Style Essentials: Fall 2010, our seasonal shopping list!

This season, I was inspired by a slew of different designers, collections and trends—from Burberry’s giant shearling-trimmed motorcycle jackets to Isabel Marant’s 1950s-inspired pumps to Lady Gaga’s mushroom-gray nails on the cover of Vanity Fair. Using these sources of inspiration for direction, I have focused this season’s shopping list on a mix of fashion-forward pieces and timeless silhouettes. For example, I’m giving my little black dress collection a boost with a luxe velvet iteration. Similarly, I’m purchasing a timeless boyfriend blazer in this season’s most-wanted color: camel. On that note, I am pleased to present my style essentials for fall. Feel free to shares yours!

Although I love the coziness of my winter wardrobe, it is finally time to shed the layers and step into the brighter days of spring. This season, I was inspired by a huge range of designers, from the utilitarian styling of Charlotte Ronson’s collection to the floaty floral prints seen at Diane Von Furstenberg. Add a little of the warrior-chic aesthetic seen at Rodarte and a heavy dose of the genius at Marc Jacobs’s spring show and you’ll have a sense of where I am heading this season.

My style essentials for spring had to meet two criteria to make it onto my shopping list: a fashion-forward vibe mixed with timeless appeal. An example? A fashion must-have, the little black dress, was update for spring with cut-out panels. Similarly, I am renewing my denim collection with the patchwork vibe seen at Chanel for a budget-friendly price. With that, I give you my fifteen style essentials for spring. What are yours?

Style Essentials: Fall 2009

September 22, 2009

Since the beginning of September, I have been distracting myself daily with the massive task of picking out my style essentials for fall. This process involves an inspection of my closet where I determine the go-to pieces that will be perfect for the coming months and extract what needs to be updated immediately. Once this is all done, I set out for my some online window shopping and then I start to budget!

For fall, I definitely wanted to try out some of the current trends, like statement jewelry (see our Trend Report: Fall 2009 for more), so I headed straight to House Of Harlow 1960 for a gorgeous, oversized cocktail ring. On the other hand, I also wanted to update some of my basics, hence the pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs ballet flats. It took a while, but I feel like I have finally narrowed down my selection to these ten pieces, all of which will be absolutely key this season.

Style Essentials: Fall 2009
