Chic Shoe Buys: August 2009

by Bryna on August 27, 2009

As August comes to an end, one thing has been weighing heavily on our mind. What is the perfect shoe to transition us from summer to fall? As we move into the cooler months, we’ve been looking for classic black boots and heels that provide a dash of bright color.

We are loving all our Chic Shoe Buys for August for their versatility – they all can be worn with a variety of different looks, from skinny jeans to shorts, from tight bandage dresses to floaty summer dresses, there is definitely something for everyone.

Chic Shoe Buys: August 2009

1. Outlaw Boot Straps ($48) from Free People

Okay, we might be taking a few liberties here. These aren’t shoes but they are amazing, amazing stud & chain boot straps that you can apply to any shoe in your collection. These straps are perfectly on-trend right now and limit the need for any DIY-ing you might have been ready to attempt! We suggest pairing these with biker boots, black pumps and ballet flats. Why not?

2. L.A.M.B. Women’s Justice Platform Sandal ($299.95) from Endless

These gladiator-style sandals get a modern update with a pop of color and a tall stiletto heel. The Rastafarian-themed colors are standard fare from Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. line, giving your little black dress that added cultural edge. Plus, you can get a free subscription to a selection of fashion magazines if you buy them from Endless.

3. Erin Looping Strappy Sandal ($149) from Bebe

These red hot heels are the perfect pick for your end-of-summer party. With their looping straps adding a caged effect to your feet, they are ideally paired with a tight-fit bandage dress, for a sexy but chic look that takes you through to fall.

4. Christian Louboutin Supra Fifre 120 Thigh-High Boots ($1,995) from Net-A-Porter

Ever since we wrote Trend Report: Thigh High Boots we have been obsessed with finding the ideal pair. We realize these are probably priced well over the average budget (they are certainly not within our budget) but they were just too beautiful to leave out. We’d pair them with a pair of skintight blue jeans and an oversized, black poet blouse for our first night out in them. 364 outfits would shortly follow.

5. Cynthia Vincent Black Leather ‘Dinah’ Gladiator Sandals ($108.90) from Bluefly

The sandal is a summer staple in all shoe closets, but this particular shoe combines two of my favorite trends: the t-bar strap and the gladiator look. An added bonus is the versatility of this sandal. Wear it with a floral sundress, paired with a pair of distressed skinny jeans or with leather-look shorts; the choices are endless. Kate Moss is a fan of the gladiator sandal so it’s no surprise that it is as popular as it is.

6. Zigi Soho Zipora Platform Bootie ($69.95) from DSW

This pair of booties not only includes one of the year’s best embellishments, zippers, but they come at a recessionista-friendly price. The perfect bootie to walk you into fall, they can be paired with all your best LBDs for a simple yet classic look.

Those over-knee boots are pretty hot. Wouldn’t maybe wear those myself (couldn’t certainly afford them :) but they do look great.
