Chic Shoe Buys: October 2010

Maybe you’re still working your way down your fall shopping list, or maybe you have gone on a major spree and bought it all. Either way, we’re here to shake things up even further with our latest Chic Shoe Buys story, which is literally jam-packed with hiker booties, party pumps, bold heels, and more. In fact, we’re so excited about this collection, we’re not sure we can limit ourselves to just one pair, and we’re pretty sure you’ll feel the same way! On that note, we present Chic Shoe Buys!

1. Duke Boots ($99) by Mia
If there is one boot you simply must try this fall/winter season, it is a military-inspired ankle bootie. Why, you ask? Well, dear readers, let us count the reasons! Firstly, the pretty army-green color will instantly spice up your shoe collection, especially if you often find yourself with a bounty of black booties. Plus, the fold-over ankle detail is super-flattering, especially when worn with skinny jeans, or paired with opaque tights and a flirty floral dress.

2. Lapin Twist Strap Sandals ($160) from Topshop
If you want to make a statement this holiday season, look no further than these bold heels from Topshop. The black-and-red color combination, wide straps, and patent platform heels will instantly elevate your party ensemble from simple to sassy. Plus, there are so many styling options. Make these heels the focus of your outfit by pairing them with skinny jeans, a black bandage dress, or a pair of tapered harem pants. You’re guaranteed to have the best-dressed legs.

3. Metallic Leather Platform Pumps ($375) by Elizabeth & James
As modern women, you know that party season is fast approaching, which means you need a slew of new dresses, shoes and accessories. May we introduce you to these pretty metallic pumps by Elizabeth & James? The shimmering silver leather has plenty of charm, but it isn’t over the top. Similarly, the rounded toe is sophisticated with a youthful twist. Try pairing these pumps with a floral dress or leather skinny pants (a là Ashley Olsen).

4. Faithful Boots ($1,285) by Alexander McQueen
One of the many legacies designer Alexander McQueen leaves behind? Shoes, naturally, but not just any shoes. Grand, vampish, amazing shoes, with studded accents, a skull zipper, textured leather, and plenty of attitude. Obviously, these boots will always be the center of attention, so pair them with pieces that don’t steal focus: a slinky black dress, a flared skirt, or skinny jeans. Whichever direction you choose, you’re sure to attract plenty of attention.

5. Josh Buckled Shearling Boot ($245) by Dolce Vita
These buckled hiker boots are perfect for fall. Not only do they incorporate one of fall’s biggest trends—shearling—they also are guaranteed to go with just about anything in your closet, which makes them more of an investment than a guilty purchase. What would we wear them with? Wool tights, a chunky knit cardigan and a pleated skirt, a là Rag & Bone. In the same vein, they’d look great with skinny jeans and an oversized grunge-inspired sweater.

6. Black Victorian Boot (£80) from Miss Selfridge
There is something so charming about Victorian-inspired boots. Perhaps it’s the luxe suede, or the endless laces, or the delicate silhouette? Whatever it is, we just can’t get enough of them at Mama’s A Rolling Stone. We’re particularly enamored with this pair from Miss Selfridge. Obviously, they’re inspired by the real thing, but they also have a modern appeal. Layer these under a white lace maxi dress for a romantic look that fresh and fashion-forward.

7. Molly Ankle Wrap Wedges ($87) by 80 20
These military-inspired wedge sandals are perfect for those that live in warmer climates. The army-green canvas and brown buckles will give your outfit a rugged twist, while the wedge heel elongates your leg in the most flattering way! Wear these with skinny jeans and a chunky sweater for a grunge-inspired look, or pair them with a floral tea dress and a slew of jewelry for a fabulous festival-ready ensemble that would make Kate Moss proud.

8. Leather Wedge Booties ($248) by Madewell
There are many shoes we believe every girl should have. Among them: wedge booties. They can be styled in so many ways, they are always flattering, they are super-easy to walk in, and they’ll be a shoe you always return to. In particular, we love this pair by Madewell. They may be black, but they’re anything but basic. In fact, we’re sure you’ll be wearing them all year round, with dresses, pants, skirts, or shorts. They’re that good!
