Chloë Sevigny is known for her personal brand of quirky-meets-cool, an aesthetic she clearly channeled in her third collection for Opening Ceremony. The Pre-Spring 2011 collection, which was officially unveiled yesterday, centers on five of Chloë’s favorite prints – leopard, polka dot, paisley, houndstooth and floral – and contains a multitude of pieces, from baby doll dresses to leather shorts and boxy-shouldered tops.
Dress silhouettes fluctuate between body-conscious styles and flared, baby doll designs; each is worn with a chunky Mary Jane, a square-toed ankle boot (reissued by NaNa Shoes expressly for this collection) or a low-cut cowboy style boot. Shorts are made from leather or white denim and are paired with cropped graphic tees (made by Chloë in conjunction with the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation) or midriff-baring sweaters. Striped varsity-inspired jackets are layered over Peter Pan-collared dresses or graphic tunics for a tomboy-ish touch. To finish, Chloë commissioned Fogal to create a series of Anna Sui-esque custom tights that matched her five chosen prints.
