New York-based designer Devi Kroell is back in a big way—she has just returned to the world of fashion design with a brand new label, Dax Gabler. (Kroell left her eponymous company last May and is no longer affiliated with the Devi Kroell brand.) Dax Gabler, which is named after Kroell’s grandmother, features ready to wear, footwear and handbags. The fall 2011 collection—the first for the label—is inspired by The New Objectivity, a German art movement that arose in the 1920s. “I wanted the collection to feel rich, but in this very understated way,” says Kroell. This means you’ll find a muted color palette of gray, brown and black, and simple silhouettes. Key pieces include a heavy wool coat and a slouchy sweater, both of which are perfect for the early days of fall. Dax Gabler will arrive later this year. Prices will range from $250 to $890.
