Coming soon to a theatre near you: Christina Ricci in Four Play. Well, it won’t quite make it to the big screen but Christina Ricci’s next film role is in a short flick entitled Four Play that revolves around Donna Karan’s pleated leather Eldridge bag.
The short was directed by Jake Sumner, the son of Sting and Trudie Styler, and features the actress in four different scenarios – the dreamer, the paramour, the expressionist and the voyeur – each of which presumably corresponds to one of the four ways the bag can be worn. Ricci is seen ‘primping, dancing, spying and lounging in various stages of dress and undress at the Soho Grand Hotel’ in New York City.
Donna Karan partnered with People’s Revolution and creative agency All Day Everyday to produce the two-minute short. Kelly Cutrone, the founder of People’s Revolution, said of the concept, “For years, I have been a big believer in the idea that designers need to create and control their own content so it can’t be stolen or looted as it is at fashion shows. Let’s face it: Anyone at the end of a riser can take that footage and do anything they want with it.”
People’s Revolution, All Day Everyday and DKNY are also teaming up for a second short that will center on the DKNY Cozy sweater. Fourteen models will wear the Cozy sweater in a variety of ways, with The Yeah Yeah Yeahs providing the soundtrack for the Kai Regan-directed short.
