Ever since Emmanuelle Alt was appointed editor-in-chief of French Vogue back in January, the fashion world has been even more intrigued with the chic Parisian. Here at Mama’s A Rolling Stone, while we are curious about her plans for the magazine, we are more captivated with her personal style, which is why she is the perfect pick for today’s Fashion Insider story. Whether you love Emmanuelle’s rock & roll vibe, or you just want some inspiration from the front lines of fashion, we’re sure you’ll find plenty of inspiration inside! Read on!
1. Back in 2008, Emmanuelle was spotted at Milan Fashion Week wearing an ensemble that perfectly epitomizes her rock and roll vibe – specifically, a leather Balmain blazer, a slouchy tee, a distressed denim mini skirt by Topshop, and fringed Gucci boots. We particularly love Emmanuelle’s mix of high and low – not only is this a great code to live by, but it suggests a more laidback attitude to fashion. To assemble a similarly stylish outfit, pair Sparkle & Fade’s Maximilian Leather Blazer ($298) and J Crew’s Vintage Cotton Crewneck Tee ($29.50) with Paper Denim & Clotch’s Denim Skirt ($35). Complete your look with Joie’s Rockefella Boots ($197.50).
2. Though she may be a rocker at heart, Emmanuelle never fails to look glamorous. For proof, take a quick look at the outfit Emmanuelle wore to a Vogue Paris dinner in January. We love that she gave her bootleg pants and pinstriped blazer a bohemian touch by adding an oversized black fur coat. The result is an ensemble that is as smart as it is edgy. Take a page from Emmanuelle’s book by pairing Gap’s Modern Boot Pants ($59.50) with her exact jacket – Balmain’s Sequined Leather Jacket ($2,923) – or Marc Jacobs’ Pinstripe Blazer ($170). To finish, add Antik Batik’s Celina Fur Coat ($1,058) or Trina Turk’s Patsy Fur Coat ($193.70).
3. Emmanuelle is at her fashionable best when she is on her home turf in Paris. Case in point: just a few weeks ago, Emmanuelle was spotted at a Paris Fashion Week show in a plaid shirt, an oversized blazer, jeans and fringed Isabel Marant boots. This ensemble also strikes a good balance between high and low. Plus, it proves that a great pair of jeans can be the basis of a super-stylish outfit. To try this look, layer Free People’s American Magic Buttondown ($49.95) under ASOS’s Tailored Boyfriend Blazer ($116.55). Add a pair of Topshop’s Moto Light Wash Vintage Baxter Jeans ($80) and then finish with Report’s Enid Boots ($104.97).
4. Although Emmanuelle has expressed a weakness for jeans, she is often spotted in leather skinny pants – another ode to her rock and roll side. We particularly love the way that Emmanuelle, at a Milan Fashion Week show back in 2009, paired her leather pants with a clean white blazer. While the blazer gives the ensemble an extra dose of sophistication, the entire outfit still stays true to Emmanuelle’s cool aesthetic. For a similarly chic look, pick up Sara Berman’s Straight-Leg Leather Pants ($199) and pair it with Elizabeth and James’ James XI Blazer ($445) and Alice by Temperley’s Zebra-Print Tank ($125). Finish with Giuseppe Zanotti’s Black Suede Sandals ($870).
