Fashion Insider: Fall Fashion

As fashion fans, you know there is a slew of people and places to look to for style inspiration, including celebrities, the runways, models, street style blogs, and more. In fact, the fashion industry is so jam-packed with style stars that at times it can be overwhelming. Accordingly, we’re introducing a new feature to the mix—Fashion Insider—that puts the style spotlight on all your favorite behind-the-scenes players, including fashion editors, photographers, stylists and more. Plus, if that isn’t exciting enough in itself, our inaugural edition is a celebration of fall fashion, courtesy of six top-notch fashion editors! On that note, we suggest you sit back, relax and get inspired by today’s story, Fashion Insider: Fall Fashion.

Géraldine Saglio, Vogue Paris
We love how Vogue Paris assistant stylist Géraldine Saglio is always so perfectly put together, whether she’s rocking Isabel Marant or showing us how to take on Balmain. Case in point: just a few weeks ago, Géraldine was spotted at Milan Fashion Week in a characteristically chic ensemble—structured blazer, slouchy white tee, leather-embellished skinny pants, and pointy pumps. Très chic, obviously, and perfect for the first weeks of fall! To put together a similarly stylish outfit, start with a pair of leather-paneled skinnies such as Alice + Olivia’s Leather Panel Skinny Pants ($368) or Topshop’s Leather Look Skinny Trousers ($80). Add Gibson’s Double Breasted Knit Blazer ($88) and a loose white tee, and then finish with a pair of pointy pumps like Enzo Angiolini’s Sweetpea Pumps ($89).

Kate Lanphear, Elle
Style director Kate Lanphear is, in one word, cool. Always. Just look at one of the ensembles she put together for Paris Fashion Week. While her fitted top and flared skirt create a playful silhouette, her accessories—namely, studded belt, oversized cross necklace, and embellished platform heels—amplify the tough side of Kate that we have come to know and love. Plus, with the addition of an oversized jacket, she’s ready to move through fall in style. To recreate Kate’s look, layer See By Chloe’s Long Sleeve Sweater ($295) underneath Diane von Furstenberg’s Yama Bis Jersey Skirt ($265). Accessorize with Alexander Wang’s Dree Fringe Sandals ($615) and Chrishabana’s Oversized Cross Necklace ($76), and then finish with Elizabeth and James’ Belted James Blazer ($445).

Christine Centenera, Harper’s Bazaar Australia
Fashion editor Christine Centenera is quickly becoming one of the “ones to watch” in the industry, thanks to her fearless sense of style and high/low aesthetic. Take, for example, one of the looks she put together for Paris Fashion Week. Her oversized fur coat and leather biker pants are, obviously, amazing, but the key to this ensemble lies elsewhere: namely, in the slouchy sweater and loose tee she has layered underneath her coat. The overall effect? A great high/low mix that is really accessible and super chic for fall. To take a page from Christine’s book, grab Oasis’s Faux Fur Coat ($143.23) and layer it over Alternative Apparel’s Slouchy Pullover Sweatshirt ($38). Add a pair of Ted Baker’s Leather Biker Pants ($335.32) and then finish with Lovers + Friends’ Reese Studded Platform Sandals ($101).

Taylor Tomasi Hill, Marie Claire
Accessories editor Taylor Tomasi Hill is always a fashion week favorite thanks to her consistent repertoire of sleek and sophisticated outfits with a personal twist. In particular, we love the look she put together for a day of shows at Milan Fashion Week. Taylor began her look with simple pieces—skinny jeans, a white tee—and then added her personal touch via a studded harness top and bold heels. The best part? With the addition of a smart blazer, you can work this look all season long. To pull off an equally chic ensemble, start with Genetic Denim’s Shane Cigarette Jeans ($187). Then, add Collina Strada’s Quurra Harness ($380) or, for something a little less bold, ASOS’s Genuine Leather & Metal Harness ($30.33). Finish with a great pair of heels; we like Prada’s Eyelet Leather Platform Sandals ($632) and Bebe’s Sienna Leather Sandals ($159).

Emmanuelle Alt, Vogue Paris
Our fashion insider coverage wouldn’t be complete without an ensemble from one of our other favorite Paris Voguettes: Emmanuelle Alt, stylist. Just days ago, Emmanuelle was spotted at Milan Fashion Week in a simple and sophisticated ensemble: cropped skinny jeans, a boyfriend blazer, a striped top, and pointy pumps. The overall vibe? Part rock & roll, part Parisian chic, always effortless, and perfect for fall. To recreate this ensemble, combine MIH’s Paris Skinny Jeans ($174) with Gap’s Striped Supersoft Long-Sleeved T ($19.50) and Topshop’s Ruched Sleeve Blazer ($125). If you can’t nab a pair of Emmanuelle’s actual Isabel Marant pumps, complete your outfit with Nine West’s Booboo Pointy-Toe Stiletto Pumps ($69.99).

Dani Stahl, Nylon
Last, but certainly not least, we turn to style director Dani Stahl, who was spotted at New York Fashion Week in a colorful array of separates. Dani opened her look with cropped jeans and a tee, and then gave it a playful twist by adding a brightly printed Suno jacket and two-tone heels. For good measure, she tied a colorful scarf to her bag. All in all, her look is personal, playful and a little quirky—everything we love about fashion! For a similarly smart look, look for a bright jacket such as Suno’s Scarf Jacket ($530) or Forever 21’s Paisley Silk Jacket ($29.80). Finish your look with a fab pair of heels—we like Betsey Johnson’s Newton II Open-Toe Pump ($165.95) and Gucci’s Kelly Platform Sandals ($429.99)—and a printed scarf like ModCloth’s Minsk Scarf ($19.99).
