The blogosphere went into a whirl on Tuesday after photos surfaced that apparently showed Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone with a wedding cake, fuelling rumors that the two had married while on vacation in St. Barth’s. However according to a spokeswoman for Jacobs, the rumors are just rumors and the two are still happily engaged; the party was an engagement party. [WWD]

• Lindsay Lohan has reportedly ended a longtime friendship with Patrick ‘Pootie’ Aufdenkamp after he stole copies of her sketches for her new 6126 clothing line. [US Magazine]

• Luella Bartley, whose eponymous label ceased trading in 2009, will see her first book published in September 2010. The book, provisionally titled Luella’s Guide to English Style, was first proposed in 2009 but had to take a back seat due to Luella’s other commitments. [The Independent]

• Research by skincare brand St Ives has revealed that one in five men wish their partner would tone down their make-up and take on a more natural look. [The Daily Mail]

• Rumors surfaced again yesterday that luxury conglomerate Richemont were planning to take a stake in Prada. After denying the initial reports in August, Prada again stepped up yesterday to refute the rumors. “The company (Prada) categorically denies the sale of a stake to Richemont,” a Prada spokesman said. “There are no negotiations in existence.” [WWD]

• Target is launching a warehouse club event called “The Great Save” that will last through February 21. “The Great Save is a way for Target to offer our guests exceptional deals on everyday essentials — just in time for their post-holiday stock-up — and a treasure-hunt experience with a variety of exciting designer brands,” said Kathee Tesija, Target’s executive vice president. • The Advertising Standards Authority in Britain has banned an ad for Johnson & Johnson’s Clean and Clear Spot Control Kit. The ASA said that the “after” shots were achieved using makeup, noting “a marked difference in the appearance of the clarity of skin between the before and after shots.” [The Guardian]
