Fashion News: McQueen, Miu Miu + More

Today in Fashion News: The Alexander McQueen business will continue, despite last week’s suicide of its founder and creative director. Meanwhile, Miucca Prada has designed a batch of one-off couture pieces for her label Miu Miu, just in time for London Fashion Week.


• The Alexander McQueen business (pictured) will continue, despite last week’s suicide of its founder and creative director. “We believe in the future of the brand,” said Robert Polet, the president and CEO of Gucci Group, who bought a 51% stake in McQueen’s company in 2000. Polet added that a McQueen collection would be presented during Paris Fashion Week. [WWD]

• Meanwhile, London Fashion Week will pay tribute to the late designer with an art installation. A display wall will be embedded with forty iPod touches, each holding fifty images from McQueen collections. [Marie Claire UK]

• Harper’s Bazaar has today launched a Spanish edition of the magazine. “We’re very pleased to be entering Spain and have high hopes for Harper’s Bazaar there,” said Duncan Edwards, president and CEO of Hearst Magazines International. [WWD]

• Miucca Prada has designed a batch of one-off couture pieces for her label Miu Miu, just in time for London Fashion Week. Five of the pieces have already arrived in London. [Grazia UK]
