Teen Vogue’s beauty and health director Eva Chen is an expert at covering the ins-and-outs of fashion week these days, but it wasn’t always the case. Chen was backstage at the Luca Luca show on Thursday when she caught up with the Styleite team to discuss her very first fashion week assignment: interviewing British supermodel Naomi Campbell.
“I had been given the assignment by an editor to get [Campbell’s] list of 30 things that she had to take with her on summer vacation, or something. So, you know, I’m 22 years old, I put my microphone in her face and I’m like, ‘Naomi, I’m here for (the name of the magazine I was working at at the time). Can you’ — and she gave me this withering look and was like, ‘Does it look like I need to do anything special for the summer? I’m always ready.’ Which of course is a great quote, but it was also, for a 22 year old, a very stressful experience.”
