J Crew’s latest designer collaboration – Fenton/Fallon For J Crew – is born from fate. Last year, J Crew’s creative director Jenna Lyons was enamored with a set of Fenton/Fallon necklaces yet she couldn’t find them anywhere. “I just printed them out and would call Bergdorf and say, ‘Do you have this?’ They were like, ‘I don’t know, lady, you have to come up.'”
Fast forward to a dinner party at Maria Cornejo’s house where Lyons was serendipitously sat next to Fenton/Fallon designer Dana Lorenz. “She mentioned that she was a jewelry designer,” says Lyons. “I asked her what jewelry she designed and she said Fenton/Fallon. I was like, Jesus Christ.”
That moment bore more significance than either would realize at the time. Today, J Crew and Fenton/Fallon have teamed up on a jewelry collection that is a “mash-up” of Lorenz’s Fenton and Fallon brands. “It’s a little less statement-y than Fenton, a little more statement-y than Fallon,” says Lorenz.
The collection – which is in J Crew stores and online now – is priced between $95 and $295 and is the perfect accompaniment to J Crew’s spring collection. As Lorenz says, “I’m kind of loving the contrast with the preppy little blazers.”
