The September Issue it isn’t, but W magazine’s new short film, The Remaking of W, still has plenty for fashion fans. The film, which made its online debut this morning as the main attraction at Fashion on Film, W’s virtual film festival, is a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to work at the magazine. In addition, the film documents editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi’s first few months at the magazine—he took over the magazine in April—and his plans to revamp the book. The film clocks in at ten minutes, so you won’t find in-depth coverage. What you will find, however, is Tonchi taking cover design tips from train conductors, a look at the logo redesign, cameos from the Proenza Schouler boys and Inez van Lamsweerde et Vinoodh Matadin, and a fleeting glimpse of Diane von Furstenberg! Check it out at WMag.com.
On a side note, Fashion on Film runs through January 15. In addition to The Remaking of W, the film festival will show a slew of short films by fashion brands.
