Since Jane Aldridge started her blog Sea Of Shoes three years ago, she has racked up a huge number of career triumphs for someone so young. She has designed a shoe collection for Urban Outfitters and a trench coat for Gryphon. Last year, she was featured in Elle and Vogue, wore Chanel couture to the Paris Crillon Ball and received an email from Sea Of Shoes fan Kanye West.
This year, Jane plans to build her brand and recently revealed the first part of her brand-building plan: a jewelry and belt line that she is launching with her aunt Karen and her mom, Judy.
A few days ago, Jane showed off a piece from the collection, a belt buckle complete with an oversized beetle. Cast in solid bronze and hand-finished, the beetle weights a pound and is nine inches long. The buckle will retail for $600 and is already available on pre-order.
Jane’s sense of fashion has caught the eye of many editors and designers, so it isn’t surprising that she is capitalizing on her style by launching a line. Even at those prices, if Jane can work her eccentricities and eye for fashion into this collection, it will no doubt be huge.
