French fashion label Kitsuné has been keeping Parisian hipsters in clothes since 2002; now, America is set to join the fashionable ranks of Kitsuné followers with the launch tomorrow of a capsule collection for Urban Outfitters. The teaming of the two brands, which share a combined love of music and fashion, is a match made in collaboration heaven; while both brands have ventured into the collaborative world before (they even teamed up on a series of men’s shirts for Urban Outfitters in the UK), this is a first for UO’s American outpost.
The three-piece t-shirt collection will undoubtedly have plenty of Kitsuné’s signature “cool kid” appeal; a first look at the collection (left) reveals a quirky graphic tee in a charcoal grey. While the design – a pair of fox ears – is simple, there is a somewhat deeper meaning; the name Kitsuné comes from the Japanese word for fox –”kitsune.” The kitsune is said to have the ability to change its appearance and face; the Kitsuné label is named after this multifaceted mythical creature, representing the brand’s many directions and projects in the mixed world of fashion and music.
The Kitsuné For Urban Outfitters collection will be in Urban Outfitters stores tomorrow, as well as online at UrbanOutfitters.com.
