First Look: Nicholas K, Fall 2010

There is something to be said about a designer who can perfectly fuse hard elements with soft to create a collection that is effortlessly cool and subtly sexy all at once. For her Fall 2010 collection, designer Nicholas Kunz did just that with “Urban Nomad,” a sophisticated selection of wardrobe staples with a nomadic, tribal twist.

The contrast between disheveled and chic is clear. Oversized silhouettes are balanced with long flowing dresses, while leather is softened with faux fur.

Urban Nomad’s color palette went in a similar direction. Inspired by the desert, the dark and monochromatic tones easily blend with sun-bleached and faded pastel colors. Several pieces are printed with tribal designs, giving them that nomadic edge.

As with previous collections, the line is perfect for the city girl looking for a hard edge. Plenty of these pieces will easily translate from fall to winter, or day to night, and will no doubt over time become staples in your fall wardrobe.
