Balmain isn’t for everyone. Not because we don’t want it, of course, but because many of us can’t afford the hefty price tags. Happily, the Paris-based label is launching a new sister line, Pierre Balmain, in December. “The Pierre Balmain collection translates the codes of Balmain in a more casual and relaxed manner,” Balmain chairman and chief executive officer Alain Hivelin told WWD.
So what can you expect from Pierre Balmain? The first collection—spring 2012—will feature tees, evening dresses, knitwear, tailoring, and denim. It will be available at over 700 stores, including stand-alone Pierre Balmain boutiques in Paris, Milan, Rome, and Hong Kong. Prices will start at around $170 for tees and $1,291 for eveningwear.
