On September 27, French Vogue—the always-chic magazine helmed by Carine Roitfeld—celebrates 90 years of fashion, style and beauty with a special edition birthday issue. To be specific: 624 pages of fashion editorials, beauty reports, surprises, and more, including 104 pages of well wishes from fashionable fans. “Vogue Paris has always played the card of audacity,” said Roitfeld to WWD. “We couldn’t do a lukewarm issue.”
Let’s take a quick look at this not-so-lukewarm issue. French Vogue favorite Lara Stone appears almost-naked on the cover, looking breathtaking. New editorials (shot by Mario Sorrenti, David Sims, Terry Richardson, Steven Klein, Hedi Slimane, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin) are mixed with stylish morsels from the Vogue archives. Plus, for those who pick up the issue in France, there is a special gift set of oversized photographs from the last 90 years.
