All eyes are on New York today as celebrities, models, fashionistas and more prepare for tonight’s Met Costume Institute Gala, hosted by Anna Wintour and Oprah Winfrey, and sponsored by Gap. Known as one of the biggest fashion parties of the year, this year’s theme (and accompanying Met exhibit) is “American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity.”
To celebrate, Gap has designed a limited-edition collection of tees inspired by the exhibit. The tees take Gap’s “casual cool aesthetic and apply it [to] the archetypes of American femininity from the 1890s through the 1940s explored in the Met’s galleries.” As such, you can find tees inspired by The Flapper, The Suffragist, The Heiress, The Patriot, The Bohemian, The Gibson Girl and The Screen Siren.
The tees are on sale in Gap stores and online at Gap.com today and retail between $34.50 and $44.50. We love the simple beaded embellishments on the Bohemian tee and the delicate ruffle detail on the Flapper tee. Tell us: which American Woman do you identify with the most?
