Another day, another round of backstage beauty reports ready to inspire and enthuse. Yesterday—day five of New York Fashion Week—saw shows from Carolina Herrera (above) and Marc Jacobs, just to name a few. Happily, we have all the need-to-know details on their beauty looks, the inspiration behind them, and how you can achieve them! For further details, read on!

Carolina Herrera
MAC’s Diane Kendal was at Carolina Herrera yesterday, ready to create a look that would go hand in hand with the elegant and sophisticated looks on the runway. Specifically, that meant picture-perfect skin, soft eyes, defined brows, a natural blush, and rosy pink lips.

For the face, Kendal prepared the skin using MAC’s Face & Body Foundation and Studio Careblend Pressed Powder, a new product that will be available this fall. Then, she brushed the cheeks with a thin layer of MAC’s Angel Blush to create a rosy glow.

On the eyes, Kendal applied a thin line of MAC’s Black Creme Liner to the top lash line to create a winged effect. Then, she curled the lashes and applied mascara to the outer corners.

On the lips, Kendal used MAC’s Prince Noir, another new product available this fall. Once the lipstick was applied, she brushed over the lip lightly to create a stained effect.

Marc Jacobs
Nars Cosmetics’s founder François Nars was on hand yesterday at Marc Jacobs. The inspiration behind his look? “You know those old women in the street who are a little bit eccentric? There’s always one living next to you. They put too much blush on and they don’t do their eyeliner quite well, but it looks fabulous in the end,” Nars told The New York Times.

On the eyes, Nars used Nars Eyeliner in Via Venetto, a new shade of black that will be released this fall, in a donward curve. As for the face, Nars applied Nars Lokum Cream Blush low, near the mouth, to create a undone effect.
