As always, our fashion week coverage goes hand in hand with our backstage beauty reports. Yesterday, the first day of New York Fashion Week, saw a slew of shows, including Luca Luca (above), Christian Siriano, and Richard Chai Love, take to the catwalk. Happily, we have all the need-to-know details on their beauty looks, the inspiration behind them, and how you can achieve them! For further details, read on!
Revlon’s global artistic director Gucci Westman was on hand at Luca Luca yesterday to fulfill Luca Luca designer Raul Melgoza’s vision of a forest fairytale filled with lush orange and okra hues. “The look is about a fresh, modern girl on an adventure,” said Westman. “She’s refined, yet modern. I created an eye that is contoured but not overly done so the attention is focused on the bright, striking lip.”
On the eyes, Westman used the following Revlon products: Matte Collection Eye Shadow in Rich Sable, Luxurious Color Eyeliner in Sueded Brown, Colorstay Liquid Liner in Black, Double Twist Mascara in Blackest Black, Brow Fantasy in Brunette, Luxurious Color Smoky Crayon in Bronze Smoke, and CustomEyes Shadow & Liner in Naturally Glamorous.
On the lips, Westman used the following Revlon products: ColorStay Lipliner in Red, Super Lustrous Lipstick in Chocoliscious, and Matte Lipstick in Really Red.
To finish the lock, a fresh coat of Gray Suede was applied to nails by nail artist Jin Soon Choi.
MAC’s Polly Osmond was on hand at Christian Siriano yesterday. Her look? Clean, simple and straightforward, with a heavy Brooke Shields-inspired brow.
To start her look, Osmond applied a light layer of concealer in order to give skin an even finish. Clear gloss was then applied to each cheekbone for a dewy appearance.
For the eyes, Osmond curled lashes to open up the eye and then applied two coats of MAC’s Opulash Mascara to the top lash lines. She finished by applying a clear gloss on each eyelid. As for the eyebrows, Osmond lightly darkened each brow with MAC’s Tinted Brow Set gel, and then brushed each brow in an upward movement to create a fuller shape.
On the lips, Osmond layered MAC’s UP Til Tomorrow lipstick underneath MAC’s Good Times Lipglass to create a glossy mauve lip.
Richard Chai Love
MAC’s James Kaliardos was on hand at Richard Chai Love yesterday, ready to create a cool, unfussy look that would accentuate the fall 2011 collection’s vibe.
To start his look, Kaliardos applied a light layer of MAC’s Face & Body Foundation in order to even out the complexion. He then applied concealer in the center of the face and lightly brushed it to the outer edges. Kaliardos then applied MAC’s Accentuate Sculpting Cream high on each cheekbone.
For the eyes, Kaliardos curled lashes to open up the eye, although he skipped mascara. Then, he dusted each eyelid with a creamy silver eyeshadow called Seaside. Next, he used a layer of eyeshadow called Electra, which he blended from the center outwards. To finish, he penciled in the waterline.
On the lips, Kaliardos used a layer of MAC’s Dim Lip Erase to create a glossy-yet-neutral lip.
