With fashion week upon us, it is time for a brand new batch of backstage beauty reports. The first few days of New York Fashion Week saw a slew of shows—including BCBGMaxAzria (left) and Richard Chai Love (right)—take to the catwalk. Happily, we have the scoop on the beauty looks from both shows, the inspiration behind them, and how you can recreate them! For further details, read on.
Bumble and bumble hairstylist Neil Moodie took inspiration from actress Barbara Bach, who played a Bond girl in 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me, to create a slick and sexy look at BCBGMaxAzria. First, Moodie sprayed the hair with Bumble and bumble Prep and Thickening Spray, before drying the hair naturally with a difusser. Then, he applied Bumble and bumble Gel from the crown to the front, combing through with a wide-tooth comb. To create the waves at the back, Moodie used a large-barrel curling iron. To finish, he set the style with Bumble and bumble Shine Spray.
Richard Chai Love
Makeup artist James Kaliardos was on hand at Richard Chai Love yesterday, bringing to life his vision of “Japanese surfer girls.” To start, Kaliardos applied different shades—including Orange and Process Magenta—of MAC Pigment on the eyes. As for the lips, Kaliardos created brightly-colored pouts using MAC Pro Chromagraphic Pencil in Hi-Def Cyan or MAC Pro Amplified Lipstick in Violetta.
