It Girl: Isabel Lucas

Our love of Aussie fashion continues this month as we delve into the sartorial style of Isabel Lucas, our It Girl for October (following hot on the heels of Model Style: Miranda Kerr). We swear we didn’t plan it this way, it just happened – how can we resist a boho-esque Aussie on the streets of LA.

Isabel’s acting career started in television, but since making her move from Australia to LA in early 2008, Isabel has been quietly making a name for herself in the film world. From a stint alongside Megan Fox in the latest Transformers movie to a role in the upcoming vampire movie, Daybreakers, Isabel’s star is definitely on the rise.

As with many of the Australians who make the move to LA, her casual, beachy style has easily transcended to the northern hemisphere. With a side role as an environmental activist (she even has an outstanding arrest warrant in Japan for her participation in a whaling protest), she is the embodiment of a free spirit, inside and out. Her outfits usually include a mix of bohemian maxi dresses, floral skirts, logo tees, with a dose of distressed denim thrown in for good measure.

It Girl: Isabel Lucas

#1. Here, our stylish It Girl pairs a printed tee with a cool pair of denim cut-offs and a headband that would make Nicole Richie proud. To get this look, grab Isabel’s Save The Wild Things Tee ($28) from Urban Outfitters. Add Free People’s Vintage Studded Cut Offs ($98) and Deepa Gurnani’s Beaded Headband ($32) for the finishing touch.

#2. Even while keeping things casual, our It Girl manages to look chic. Isabel loves to mix motif tees with hippie prints. Here, she pairs a floral skirt and slouchy, suede boots with a faded tee baring a horse motif. For a similar ensemble, try We The Free’s Glitter Horse Print Pieced Tee ($44.90) with this Floral Tiered Skirt ($19.99) from Charlotte Russe. Throw on a pair of Free People’s Slouch Suede Boots ($128) in brown.

#3. Another perfectly casual combination, here Isabel wears an ethnic maxi dress with metallic threads, pairing it with a simple bowler hat and a vintage-style waist belt. While we think Vanessa Bruno Athé’s Pleated Lurex Stripe Dress ($293.30) makes for a stylish alternate, we always love a budget-friendly option. We’re pretty sure that Miss Me’s Ethnic Printed Smock Dress ($88) won’t break the bank. Topshop’s Bowler Hat ($44) paired with Sonoma’s Floral Leather Belt ($18.20) complete the look.

#4. Proving that she is more down-to-earth than the average Hollywood starlet, here Isabel brings out her slouchy boots for another walk on the town. The Cut Off Short ($165) by Paige Premium Denim in Equator (green) will start your look off nicely balanced with UO’s Felt Bowler ($38). Sadly, while we haven’t found a Smurfs tee to equal Isabel’s look, we totally love this Minnie & Mickey Tee ($9.99) from Charlotte Russe.

#5. Our favorite thing about Isabel? Isabel’s love of fashion combined with her unpretentious nature mean that she is always willing to try a quirky, vintage dress before she shows off her fabulous body in a tight mini. This just proves that she has that girl confidence that we love. For a similar look, try Free People’s Cozy Criss Cross Dress ($124.60) or Elie Tahari’s Stephanie Dress ($184) paired with a vintage satchel.
