There are some of us who like to float along contemplatively, and there are some of us who like to stay way ahead of the curve. If you fall into the latter category, pay attention: Color authority Pantone has just released its Color of the Year for 2011! The winner? Honeysuckle, a lively reddish-pink that Pantone describes as “a brave new color, for a brave new world.”
The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed Honeysuckle on the spring runways—brands such as Adam Lippes, Nanette Lepore, Peter Som, Cynthia Steffe, and Badgley Mischka all incorporated the color into their shows. Fashion isn’t the only industry paying attention, however. Interior and housewares designer Jonathan Adler used the color in his 2011 collections.
So, now you know the color to look for in 2011. The question is what should you do with this knowledge? A word of advice from Pantone: “Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing ‘everyday’ about it.”
