Recently I was lucky enough to receive the Cape Of Good Hope (pictured) from ModCloth and I was more than excited. Capes are a huge trend this fall (see Trend Report: Fall 2009) and the trend will no doubt continue into winter so this cape was the perfect addition to my closet.

The cape is made of a thick, knit fabric which is just perfect for the colder months. The fabric is a chic navy color and it has a honeycomb texture. Rather than just pulling the cape over your head, as you would a poncho, there are loopholes for your arms to go through and a sash which threads through slits on either side of the waist. The sash can be pulled tight and tied, leaving the cape looking perfectly fitted at the waist. The neckline can be folded over and the cape does up at the front with a series of gold domed buttons.
I have a printed poncho that I love but this cape has quickly taken its place. I’m planning on pairing it with a pair of faded blue jeans and suede, thigh high black boots, combining two trends into one outfit without looking like I even tried.
