How To Wear Daytime Sequins

For a long time, sequins have been thought of as a nighttime embellishment. While their glamorous nature does lend itself perfectly to your night wardrobe, the modern girl knows how to mix things up by wearing sequins during the day. If you’re wondering how to pull off daytime sequins, you’ve come to the right place. The Sartorialist recently spotted this glamorous girl in New York, who shows us how to style the look with ease.

Clearly, the trick to wearing daytime sequins is to keep the rest of your outfit minimalist and toned down. Take a look at our stylish subject: her outfit is comprised of mostly solid, dark colors, save for her coat, which is a dark mustard color. The color of the coat resides within the same area of the color wheel as her gold sequined top, which is why this look works so well.

Get this look by pairing this Loreli Racer Back Tank ($144) by Joie with this Double Breasted Trench Coat ($69) from Arden B. Add this pair of Skinnie Classique Jeans ($78) by Blank Denim and then finish it off with these Vina Tall Shaft Round Toe Boots ($129.90) by Lauren Ralph Lauren.

Never been a huge sequin fan, even at night. It always reminds me of stuffy old lady formal outfits. I do like the way the sequined top is styled here, though.

    Heyyyy 🙂

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Ever since my laptop caught a TERRIBLE spam a few weeks ago, I’ve been looking for your blog. These fashion are sassy & “…show’em what ya workin wit gurl!”. Skinny jeans however has never looked right on me, I mean it’s only one cut, right? Either way, I’m still on the look out for some “good jeans”…..this did give me a few ideas 🙂 I’ve added your blog 🙂

Have a lovely day. Oscars in a few more hours!

I love the sequin shirts for day! I grabbed one in pale gold and one in charcoal from Free People last summer. They are so sparkly and I have always gotten a great response from people, even here in conservative Pensacola, Florida. The key is definitely to tone the rest down a bit.
