Camilla Belle might be most lauded for her red-carpet prowess and panache for party dressing, but we are happy to report that she has an equal amount of flair for off-duty fashion. Despite her age (she’s just 23), Camilla has been wowing the world for years with her innate sense of style, so it seemed only natural to celebrate her fashion finesse by dedicating this month’s It Girl story to her.
When it comes to dressing for the red carpet, Camilla has won plenty of fans with her effortless mix of old-school elegance and contemporary chic; designer Jason Wu has even gone so far as to call Camilla “an icon in the making.” Off-duty, Camilla usually opts for an unfussy ensemble; take special note of her talent for accessorizing an otherwise simple outfit with a hippie-esque headband, a metallic shoulder bag or chunky boots.
Whether you are inspired by her timeless red-carpet taste or her low-key looks, we are certain you will be as captivated as us by Camilla’s clear penchant for style. With that, we present May’s It Girl story, with an in-depth look at five of our favorite looks from the Camilla Belle archive of fashion.
#1. Late last month Camilla headed out for a Beverly Hills lunch date in a summer-ready ensemble: a cool-yet-casual shirt dress paired with black patent leather ballet flats. She gave the look a chic touch by accessorizing with a leather shoulder bag, a rosary necklace and a pair of Cartier C Décor Sunglasses. For a stylish take on Camilla’s outfit, try Kuyichi’s Bleach Denim Shirt Dress ($143.73) or Gypsy 05’s Nelly Dress ($189). Finish your look with Kenneth Cole Reaction’s Slip On By Ballet Flats ($59), Sabina’s Chain Crossbody Bag ($239.99) and Free People’s Carved Cross Necklace ($188).
#2. While out in Beverly Hills last year, Camilla tried a 1970s-inspired look with a pair of oversized sunglasses and a printed headband. While these accessories added a bohemian element to her ensemble, the rest of her outfit – skinny jeans and a slouchy tank top – felt fresh and contemporary. For a similar style, try Topshop’s Heart Print Headband ($12) or Vintage Bird Print Headband ($12) with a pair of Marc By Marc Jacobs’ Button Logo Oversized Sunglasses ($98). Add your favorite draped tank top, a pair of Cheap Monday’s Tight High Waist Skinny Jeans ($85) and Deux Lux’s Zipper Hobo ($58) in red.
#3. As with all our It Girls, a knack for rocking the red-carpet is essential. Here, Camilla shows us how it is done with a sweet and sexy one-shouldered dress in forest green, paired with simple silver pointy-toe pumps. To try this look, we suggest either Kara Janx’s One Shoulder Ruffled Dress ($230) or AKA New York’s Carmen Dress ($358). RSVP’s Jade Pumps ($69) in silver work with both dresses.
#4. Out for a walk last year with former beau Joe Jonas, Camilla looked classically chic in a button-up shirt, loosely-knotted scarf, skinny jeans and ballet flats. She slung a silver shoulder bag and leather biker jacket over her arm, which easily takes the outfit from day to night. For a similar look, try Gap’s Roll-Up Sleeve Boyfriend Shirt ($14.99), J Crew’s Refined Silk-Cashmere Wrap ($75) and Rezrekshn’s Leather Buckle-Front Motorcycle Jacket ($198).
#5. At last month’s Coachella Music Festival, Camilla tried out two stylish ensembles but it was this outfit that caught our eye. Her military-green pinafore dress layered over a crisp white tank instantly reminded us of the slip-dress trend of the 90s, while her chunky boots gave her usually feminine style a tough side. Both Antipodium’s Specific Rim Pinafore Dress ($223.20) and East By Eastwest’s Pinafore Style Dress ($137) are perfect if you want to try this look. Add a pair of Frye’s Harness Boots ($237.95) to complete the look.
