It Girl: Emma Stone

It is safe to say that Emma Stone is having a big year. She showed off her acting chops in both Crazy, Stupid, Love and The Help, she filmed the latest Spider-Man installment, and she scored a spot on People’s 100 Most Beautiful list. And while these are some major achievements, we are really only interested in one thing: what Emma was wearing while taking this wild ride up the Hollywood ladder! Accordingly, today’s It Girl story is devoted to Emma’s style—both on and off the red carpet! Click through for all the need-to-know details!

1. The boy-meets-girl look is a major trend this fall, which is just one of the reasons we love the look Emma put together for a dinner date in Malibu back in August. The other reasons? We love that Emma created a casually-chic look by using just two pieces. The key is to pick pieces that stand out on their own, which is exactly what Emma has done. Her smock-style dress is made from a silky fabric that gives it a glam quality, while her two-tone Oxford flats give the ensemble a boyish twist. To try this look for yourself, pick up a cute dress like Ella Moss’s Girls’ Best Friend Dress ($138) or Emerson Thorpe’s Solid Tassels Dress ($286). Then, simply add a pair of Miz Mooz’s Histeric Two-Tone Brogue Oxfords ($63) and you are all set.

2. One of the things we like most about Emma is that she rarely plays it safe, whether she is on the red carpet or off. For proof, take a look at the ensemble she put together for the Hollywood premiere of Easy A last year. Emma’s outfit—a sequined Pucci mini dress and beige heels—is the perfect red carpet look. It definitely has the “wow” factor, thanks to the sequins, but it also feels very age-appropriate thanks to the short silhouette. By teaming it with simple accessories and a loose, wavy hairstyle, Emma has ensured she stands out for all the right reasons. You can make this look your own by picking up Matthew Williamson’s Sequin Dress ($3,995) or Antik Batik’s Magenta Sequin Dress ($610) and teaming it with Franco Sarto’s Cicero Suede Pumps ($89).

3. Putting together the perfect traveling outfit can be tricky, but not if you take notes from Emma, who was spotted at LAX airport back in April wearing a cape-style coat, skinny jeans, and suede ankle boots. We love the way Emma has picked pieces that are as sensible as they are stylish. The boots can be slipped on and off easily at security checkpoints, while the cape doubles as a blanket on a long flight. Plus, when teamed together, they create one major style statement. To put together a similarly stylish ensemble, start by grabbing Sonia by Sonia Rykiel’s Duffle Coat ($839) or Hanii Y’s Plaid Coat ($690). Then, slip into a pair of skinnies—we like Siwy’s Rose Jeans ($195)—before completing your look with Rebecca Minkoff’s Doll Boots ($350).

4. While some red carpets call for glamour, others call for low-key yet luxe looks, and it is safe to say that Emma can pull off both! With regard to the latter, take a look at the outfit Emma put together for an Easy A photo-call in Berlin last year. Her ensemble—a leather Joie jacket, a slouchy tank, and a wrap skirt—is great for the red carpet, but it would also be just as suitable for a fashion industry event, a girls’ night out, or a dinner date. Inspired? You can make this versatile look your own by picking up Improvd’s Cropped Leather Jacket ($525) and pairing it with J Crew’s Cowlneck Tank ($35) and Leifsdottir’s Lake Reflection Skirt ($129). Complete the look by slipping into a pair of nude pumps.
