It Girl: Freida Pinto

While Freida Pinto first came to our attention as Latika in the award-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, it is what she has been doing since—namely, wowing us with her sense of personal style—that has kept us captivated! Yes, dear readers, the subject of our latest It Girl story is definitely one to watch! Not only has she enthralled us on the red carpet, she has also captured the attention of many a fashion insider—for instance, in 2009, she won a place on Vogue’s list of the most stylish women. On that note, we suggest you read on to discover all the need-to-know details on what Freida wears and how she wears it!

1. In October last year, Freida attended the Hamptons International Film Festival in East Hampton. Her outfit for the occasion? An embroidered Stella McCartney confection and nude Salvatore Ferragamo flats. We love that Freida has given her gorgeous dress a casual twist by pairing it with flats instead of heels. By doing so, Freida has given her ensemble a relaxed feel, but she has also created an outfit that instantly transitions from day to night. To create an equally chic ensemble, pair Kenny’s Penny Pockets Printed Dress ($253) or River Island’s Abstract Floral Shift Dress ($36.20) with Repetto’s BB Suede Ballet Flats ($265).

2. Creating an outfit that is chic and comfortable can be tricky, but Freida accomplished it while out in London last October. Her outfit—a floral shift, a blazer, and ballet flats—is stylish, certainly, but also sensible. The flats allow her to be on her feet all day. Plus, the blazer is a chic layering piece that can be taken on and off, as the weather allows. Inspired? Put together your own stylishly smart outfit by picking up ASOS’s Ruched Waist Dress ($68.96) and pairing it with BCBGMaxAzria’s One-Button Blazer ($129). A pair of Dolce Vita’s Lulu Ballet Flats ($89.75) completes the look.

3. It is no secret that the fashion world loves a great leopard-print piece, which is why we adore the ensemble Freida wore to the Toronto International Film Festival back in September. Instead of opting for a classic black-and-tan print, Freida thought outside the box and wore a magenta Marchesa dress and eggplant-purple pumps. By picking a bright color, Freida has given her outfit a modern twist and shown off the playful side of her personality. You, too, can put together a chic and contemporary ensemble by pairing Parker’s Baby Doll Dress ($170) or Topshop’s Pleated Waist Shift Dress ($95) with Steve Madden’s Bevv Platform Pumps ($59.99).

4. While Freida clearly has an affinity for dresses, she is just as stylish when wearing a casual outfit. Proof? Freida was spotted out and about in New York last month wearing a striped tank top, a pair of tailored shorts, and wrap around sandals. We love the simplicity of this outfit. Plus, the summery vibe suits a slew of hot-weather activities including a pool party, sightseeing, or a day trawling the markets. You can compose a similarly unfussy look by grabbing Joie’s Drew D Striped Silk Tank ($138) and Motel’s Ethel Trouser Shorts ($58) and pairing them with AllSaints’s Ophelia Flat Sandals ($133).
