It Girl: Jamie Chung

Once in a while, an up-and-coming Hollywood actress pops up on our radar and immediately piques our interest with her fashion-forward vibe. In this case, that actress is Sucker Punch star Jamie Chung. Yes, dear readers, the subject of our latest It Girl story is certainly one to watch—she has been feted by WWD and Nylon, she has her red carpet aesthetic down cold, plus she was spotted at Coachella last month in a perfect festival ensemble! So, read on for all the need-to-know details because we’re sure Jamie is going to be on your fashion radar for a long time to come.

1. Matching the right outfit to the right occasion can be tricky, but we think Jamie looked amazing when she was spotted out to dinner in London back in March. Her pleated mini dress was feminine and flirty, without being over the top. Similarly, her platform heels have a subtly sexy edge. An outfit like this is perfect for a dinner date—whether it is a first date, or you are heading out with your best girlfriends. Inspired? Put together a similarly stylish look by picking up Hoss Intropia’s Pleated Dress ($240) or Dahlia’s Sleeveless Contrast Collar Tea Dress ($111.17) and pairing it with Aldo’s Dalgleish Pumps ($97.50).

2. Back in November, Jamie attended the 7 For All Mankind 10th Anniversary celebration party in Beverly Hills. Her outfit for the occasion? A camel cape, skinny jeans, and leopard-print platform heels. We love the casual-meets-cool vibe of this outfit—not only does it work for a relaxed red carpet event like Jamie’s, but it also would work for a shopping date, an industry party, or even a casual office environment. To create an equally chic ensemble, pair Minimarket’s Stingray Belted Cape ($197.50) or American Apparel’s Wool Cape ($170) with your favorite skinny jeans and Pelle Moda’s West Pumps ($111.75).

3. Now that music festival season is officially underway, there is no shortage of festival outfit inspiration, but we particularly love the outfit Jamie wore to Coachella last month. Every piece Jamie chose—from her floral shorts to her straw fedora—had an equal mix of practicality and panache, which is essential for those long hot days of dancing in the desert. You, too, can put together a stylishly smart outfit by pairing Free People’s Printed Woven Shorts ($39.90) with American Apparel’s Loose Crop Tee ($22). Then, simply add Jeffrey Campbell’s Slashed Combat Boots ($145) and Mint by Goorin’s Colorblock Braided Straw Fedora ($29).

4. If we had to pick just one thing to love about Jamie’s personal style, it is that she always manages to inject her outfits with a heavy dose of youthfulness. For example, for a charity event at the Elie Tahari boutique in New York City last month, Jamie wore a smart blazer, a printed skirt, and patent platform pumps. The outfit is chic and timeless, but it still feels young and age-appropriate. You can compose a similarly modish look by grabbing Theory’s Bennira Jacket ($296.25) and The Addison Story’s Triangle-Print Silk Skirt ($112) and pairing them with Calvin Klein’s Carley Patent Pumps ($98).
