John Galliano has been formally discharged from the fashion company that bears his name, according to WWD. Galliano was ousted as Dior’s couturier last month amidst mounting evidence of anti-Semitic and racist outbursts, but Christian Dior, which owns 91% of the Galliano label, never explicitly mentioned Galliano’s fate at his namesake label.
According to sources, the John Galliano board recently met and voted to sack the disgraced designer. It is said the in-house design team at John Galliano, which shares members with Dior’s, is currently producing the pre-spring collection.
Although the Galliano board has no immediate plans to sell the company, Dior is understood to have received expressions of interest in the business from several of its Italian licensing partners.
