As you know, late last week New York Fashion Week wrapped up and the fashion pack moved on to London. In the first three days, brands like (from left to right) Mulberry, Julien Macdonald, Sass & Bide, and Issa showed collections, while Tom Ford held an editor’s-only presentation, which means there is plenty to discuss! On that note, click inside to discover the scoop on what has taken place so far!
At Mulberry, Kate Moss sat alongside Twilight actress Kristen Stewart, showing the reach that the British brand has collected over the years. As for the collection itself, it was inspired by the British summertime, and accordingly, featured ribbed leggings, anoraks in lemon yellow and minty green, with oversized satchels to match. At Julien Macdonald, the collection was inspired by the colors and textures of Monte Carlo yachts, but when translated to clothes, the look had an apocalyptic vibe mixed with a touch of glamour.
Australian brand Sass & Bide once again showed in London, although the collection still has plenty of the elements that we have come to know and love: layer upon layer of neon colors, metallic panels, bright prints, sequins, neoprene, and more. The duo behind the collection—Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton—have not wavered from that aesthetic since the beginning, and it serves them well. At Issa—the brand favored by the Duchess of Cambridge—there were plenty of the sleek mini dresses and feminine silhouettes that the brand is known for, this time in a bright palette inspired by the bold colors of Rio de Janeiro.
And did we mention that Tom Ford, once again, held an intimate show for just a select few? According to Cathy Horyn, the show “was thoroughly Tom Ford in its sex appeal and silhouette—tigress hair, smoky eyes, glossy lips, taut skirts and strappy high heels.”
