London Fashion Week, Spring 2012: Days 4-6

Quicker than lightening, it seems, London Fashion week has come and gone and the fashion pack has moved on to Milan. Despite the short schedule, London Fashion Week managed to pack plenty of punch—in the final three days, brands like (from left to right) Burberry, Christopher Kane, Erdem, and Temperley London showed collections, which means there is plenty to discuss. On that note, click inside to discover the scoop on what went down during the final three days!

At Burberry, Christopher Bailey was once again wowed the crowd with a cheerful collection that drew on the brand’s heritage but was still thoroughly modern. Pleated dresses, raffia hats, platform sandals, and trenches, naturally, in aubergine and khaki green—all key looks in a must-have collection. At Christopher Kane, the audience was treated to a collection that shimmered as it caught the light. How, you ask? Each piece was made from layers of organza, brocade, or Lurex yarn, appliqued with metallic flowers or embellished with sequins, then sent onto a catwalk bathed in light. The result: a dream.

The Erdem show, fast becoming a must-attend at fashion week, focused on florals, of course. In shades of lemon yellow—one of the most widely used colors at LFW—and cornflower blue, with a hint of pink, the pieces instantly popped. As for the Temperley London show, one particular front-row attendee—Pippa Middleton—made waves, almost upstaging the show, although it wouldn’t be the first time she had overshadowed the main event. Happily, nothing could really detract from the kaftan-like gowns and red carpet-ready dresses.
