As London Fashion Week begins, keep a look out for these new talented designers that are set to make quite an impact on the runway, with their Spring/Summer 2015 collections.
24 year old Ryan Lo from Hong Kong will host ‘a tropical Blue Lagoon love paradise meets Muriel’s Wedding.’ Think ultra feminine and over-the-top with masses of lace, frills, tassels and sparkle, and with ‘Carrie Bradshaw’ as his ‘ultimate muse’, it’s a collection not to be missed.
Parisian designer Faustine Steinmetz is set to host a quirky collection comprising branding, couture house, luxury and marketing. I can’t help thinking of something along the lines of Moschino’s Mcdonalds inspired Autumn/Winter 2014 collection but we shall see.
Young London-born Cassandra Verity Green promises a seventies ‘Barbarella’ inspired collection that’s certain to ooze sassiness. She sums up her collection as ‘wavy’ and boasts a moodboard of ‘texture overload’ so I think it’s safe to say that this collection may well be bold and eye-catching.
Helen Louise Lawrence from Newcastle in England exposes painter Gary Hulme as her inspiration. So we can expect to see lots of ‘powerful colour combinations’ on retro styles from the late nineties and early noughties that she reveals will ‘re-examine the craftsmanship that I didn’t pay attention to at the time when I thought it was all just fashionable.’
Irish designer Danielle Romeril will be using the personal experience of a ‘wild camping trip’ combined with works by the artist Lucy Orta as her inspiration. Think ‘pioneer style utility clothing’ and ‘true detective’ inspired pieces.
Collections, I think you’ll agree, that promise to be as interesting and exciting as they are portrayed.
