For Issue 3 of Love Magazine, editor-in-chief Katie Grand decided to prove a point: that perfection is not fixed, timeless or transcendent. Issue 3, the “Fashion Icons” issue, has eight different covers; each cover features a model that represents the fashion ideal, including Kate Moss and Lara Stone.
“For this issue of LOVE, we took eight women who are generally acknowledged as the most beautiful in the world, got them to show off their bodies – widely regarded as the most perfect in the world – and photographed them all in exactly the same position for the cover,” Grand told Vogue.com. “We did this to show how much they differed physically from one another, which is why we also printed their measurements.”
Looking at each of the covers, it is easy to pick out the differences between the eight women, from Naomi’s strong thighs to Kate’s visibly shorter body. Do you like Katie Grand’s vision or not? Personally, I don’t think that commenting on weight/body issues in fashion magazines means you must use plus-sized models – I like this new concept.
The eight covers were photographed by fashion photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot. Issue 3 of Love Magazine goes on sale next week.
