J Crew’s latest designer collaboration—with New York-based vintage-inspired jewelry label Lulu Frost, which is designed by Lisa Salzer—is a collection born from a twist of fate. To start, J Crew president/creative director Jenna Lyons came across the brand about a year ago while in California store Ten Over Six. “I was home for Christmas and I bought this amazing necklace. I said, ‘I work at J Crew. Would it be okay if I got in touch with the designer?'” Fast forward a little while, and J Crew women’s designer director Marissa Webb comes across a Lula Frost design while shopping in New York City. The collaboration is born!
From there, the process was simple. The J Crew team selected pieces from Salzer’s massive archive, which Salzer then modernized. The result? A collection of vintage-inspired necklaces, bracelets, and earrings made from chains, crystals and gold. Whether you’re searching for a gift this holiday season, or you want to reward yourself with a brand new piece of jewelry, the Lulu Frost for J Crew collection might be your best bet. The collection will arrive in J Crew stores, as well as online at JCrew.com, in the next few weeks. Prices range from $75 for earrings to $175 for a necklace.
